Gift for teacher’s day, what to give, what cannot be given on teacher’s day

Gift for teacher’s day, what to give, what cannot be given on teacher’s day

And that, on the contrary, it is quite possible to hand over.

“My phone is broken – in the parent chat there is a fight over Teacher’s Day. Everyone’s gone crazy, ”a colleague complains. Her son went to first grade this year, and this school holiday is new to him.

She’s not alone. Many parents of schoolchildren are probably now suffering from headaches: what is it to give a teacher so that it is not trivial and at the same time not too expensive? To begin with, it is not necessary to make a gift for a professional holiday at all. It is quite possible to limit yourself to flowers, and that’s okay. But if you are still eager to please your class teacher, then we have a stop list – these seven things should not be given to teachers for anything in the world.

1. Perfume

Perfume is the gift with which it is difficult to guess, even when it comes to a loved one. Here you need to know exactly the preferences, or even better – a specific brand of perfume. Otherwise, it is very likely that the teacher will hand over the elegant bottle at best. At worst, it is used as a toilet air freshener. Of course, you will never know about this, but all the same, there is little good in such a situation. Just waste your money.

2. Specialty books

And again, unless you know for sure that the teacher is dreaming of some kind of gift edition. After all, teachers usually take care of professional literature themselves. It is unlikely that you will be able to present to him what he has not read before. Besides, the teacher is also a human being. He may well prefer to read Nick Perumov or Franz Kafka at his leisure, rather than study a new dictionary.

3. Sweets, tea and coffee

Gift sets of tea with different tastes and aromas are not for everybody. It is generally impossible to drink instant coffee, have mercy on the person. Also, do not forget that teachers’ pressure often jumps from the antics of our beautiful children. Everyone is able to buy sweets for himself. It is unlikely that you will buy a set of real Belgian chocolate, for example. And everything else is utterly trite.

4. Tea pairs

Just imagine how many scattered cups, saucers and spoons the teacher accumulates over the years of his work. In addition, suddenly he prefers to drink tea from a large mug with a volume of 600 milliliters? Then an ordinary teacup is just a pointless dust collector, albeit cute. Maybe there is someone to donate. Throwing something out of the hand will not rise.

5. Wine or champagne

Yet school, teacher and alcohol are incompatible things. This is just an inappropriate gift. Do not do like this.

6. Accessories

They are as easy to get into trouble with as it is with spirits. A person can easily not appreciate even a branded scarf if it is of the wrong shade or texture. The same goes for jewelry, bijouterie, any other accessories. Yes, all this can be expensive and of high quality, but it is completely inappropriate.

7. Expensive gifts

This can be seen as a bribe. And it’s downright unethical. There is no need to go out of your way by buying an expensive coffee machine for a teacher or something like that. This puts him in an awkward position. In addition, accepting such expensive gifts may be prohibited by the school’s charter. And according to the law, a teacher cannot take a present that costs more than 3 thousand rubles. As well as money, this is not discussed. From the point of view of the law, this is a bribe.

What is worth giving:

  • flowers;

  • flash drives (believe it, but they are still in use in schools);

  • certificates – and no need to moan that this is an impersonal gift. You are not friends;

  • really original sweets.

By the way

There is another opinion – there is no need to give gifts to teachers on a professional holiday at all.

“They consciously entered the profession, consciously received an education, got a job, and receive a set salary. Tell me, why should I give them gifts? For doing their job? Let the cashiers in supermarkets give flowers once a month, congratulate the cleaning lady in the front door on the beginning of autumn. Let’s not forget about the bus driver who is on duty at the metro station – she generally needs to give gifts twice a month, because she remembered me and smiles broadly when we meet, ”says our columnist Anna Berman.

Interview

Do you think it is necessary to give gifts to teachers?

  • Of course, gifts are always nice! Why not please the person who is working with my child?

  • I hand over money, but because I don’t want to be a black sheep. Suddenly my child, because of my refusal, will become an outcast.

  • In our parent committee, no one offered to collect money for gifts to teachers. I don’t even know if I started donating money.

  • I support Anna. I will not give a penny for gifts to the teacher, she receives a salary for her work.
