GIF withdraws popular rhinitis medication from the market

The Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate issued a decision to withdraw the Sudafed XyloSpray HA medicinal product, a popular nasal spray, from the market nationwide. The decision is immediately enforceable.

The reason for the withdrawal of the drug from pharmacies and wholesalers is the information about the suspected failure to meet the quality requirements of the F143280A series (expiry date 30.09.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX), which was received by the GIF from the manufacturer of Sudafed itself.

Upon receiving such information, the GIF is obliged to issue a decision prohibiting the introduction or withdrawal from the market of a medicinal product or active substance. Immediate feasibility, on the other hand, is related to the probability of a threat to health or life.

GIF recommends that you carefully check the series of drugs that we have in our first aid kits and compare them with those on the recall list. This information is provided on each package of the drug. If the series is compatible, we can return the drug to the pharmacy and ask the doctor for a prescription for a safe substitute.
