GIF banned the sale of ointments used to treat inflammatory skin lesions

The Main Pharmaceutical Inspector has withdrawn from the market one series of Flucinar N ointment, used in the treatment of, inter alia, atopic and seborrheic dermatitis. Do you have this medicine in your home medicine cabinet? Check what to do.

By the decision of GIF, the Flucinar N 711146 ointment series with the expiry date of 11.2020 was withdrawn from the market. According to the Main Pharmaceutical Inspector, the reason was the information that the office received from the MAH (PharmaSwiss Česká republika sro) about the recall of a specific batch of a medicinal product. The decision was made “due to the stated result, out of specification in the reference sample, in the field of fluocinolone acetonide impurities”.

Flucinar N is a combined preparation containing two active substances: neomycin with an antibacterial effect and fluocinolone with an anti-inflammatory effect.

The ointment can be used in the local treatment of acute and sub-acute skin inflammations, incl. atopic dermatitis (AD) and seborrheic dermatitis, lichen urticaria, allergic contact eczema, long-term psoriasis, lupus erythematosus and erythematosus multiforme.

If you are using a drug that GIF has recalled from the market, first compare the lot number of the drug (you can find it on the packaging) with the lot number on the list. If they are correct, you can return the product to the pharmacy. It is also worth going to the doctor and asking for a replacement for the drug used so far.
