GIF banned the sale of eye drops. Make sure you have them in your medicine cabinet

The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector has banned the sale of a series of Xaloptic Free intraocular pressure lowering eye drops. Make sure you have them in your first aid kit.

The series of Xaloptic Free eye drops that GIF has withdrawn is 511017 with an expiry date of 06. 2020. The decision was due to the National Medicines Institute study protocol that was received by the GIF. The document confirms that the tested sample did not meet the requirements of the manufacturer’s specification in terms of the parameters of impurity content.


Xaloptic Free is a preparation applied topically to the eye (conjunctival sac) to reduce intraocular pressure. The product can be used by adults as well as children and adolescents. The active substance is latanoprost.
