Geysers Bosch: reviews, overview of models, specifications

It is difficult to find a more famous German brand on the home appliance market than Bosch. Under this logo, a successful German corporation distributes consumer electronics and appliances – refrigerators, washing и dryers, boilers etc. Our review will be devoted to the Bosch geyser.

The guide is based on instructions (manuals), user reviews, expert opinions. You will learn about common equipment failures: when you buy a Bosch water heater, you will be fully equipped.

Rulers and their features

Unlike the products of the main competitor of the German corporation – “Electrolux”, the model range of Bosch Group is diverse. Various modifications and form factors are available to buyers; the equipment can be kindled according to any of the types of ignition that exist today, it has different thermal power, productivity (in liters), design and body dimensions.

All models are assembled in Portugal, except for the inexpensive “Therm 2000 O”, traditionally assembled in China. Let us consider further each series and some models included in it separately.

Therm 2000 O

Inexpensive version with modest performance, delivering 10 liters of hot water in 1 minute. It provides for ignition using batteries, as well as a built-in tubular copper heat exchanger. The gas burner is made of stainless steel. Like “colleagues” under the brand name “Ariston”, such GKs are equipped with an emergency sensor for the presence of thrust and flame control. The design provides for a temperature water sensor and the “Gas-control” system. The GC is made in a compact case, it is relatively cheap – about 8000 rubles.

Therm 4000 Series

The line contains the options with the highest demand. Moreover, there is both with AUTO-ignition from batteries or conventional salt (alkaline) batteries, and with piezo ignition (you need to press a separate button in order to ignite the flame). The series provides equipment with three power levels, passing 10-15 liters per minute. The series is equipped with high quality heat exchangers made of copper and efficiently coping with heating. The performance of this node is limited to 15 years.

These models are supplied with a continuously modulating burner flame. The function is used to maintain the set flow temperature at the outlet.

Important! The main plus of Therm 4000 O is that it can be turned on even at a water pressure (pressure) of only 0,1 atm.

Therm 4000 S

The main distinguishing point is the presence of a fan that provides forced draft. Columns from this series do not require the installation of a chimney. This is convenient when installing in an apartment or house in which the chimney lining will be problematic.

The output of combustion products in these models, as well as the air supply, is carried out in a coaxial chimney. This element is located on the outside of the wall (horizontally). This is an optional feature and must be purchased separately.

Another technical point: the presence of electronic control in the user panel. It displays error codes and other information about the operating modes or malfunctions of the unit. The control panel also makes it easy for the user to perform tasks such as setting the temperature and others. Accurate flame modulation reduces temperature error to just 1 degree.

It is supplied in three different power types, with capacities ranging from 12 to 18 liters per minute. There is another significant difference in this series – energy dependence due to the fan in the design. Unfortunately, this is somewhat of a minus, because the column will not function without electricity.

Therm 6000 O

This line of Bosch water heaters is equipped with a hydrogenerator. Auto-ignition is provided by a flow through the design of the apparatus itself. By opening the tap, the user starts the water supply to the heater, and thanks to the HYDRO POWER technology, automatic start is carried out by means of a hydrodynamic generator.

To ignite the unit, no piezo or batteries are needed. Productivity of models in a series: 10, 13 and 15 liters.

On the user panel there is a liquid crystal display – it displays information about the temperature, which is adjusted with a rotary knob.

Therm 6000 S и 8000 S

These series include industrial options with a capacity of 24 and 27 liters per minute. Such units will freely provide hot water supply (DHW) to several points of intake (4-5) without loss of work power. The units are equipped with electric ignition and a display on the side of the user panel.

The model of the 6000 S series is equipped with two fans at once, which remove combustion products and provide air suction. The 8000 S has a special condensing technology for high efficiency heating of the water flow. The water valve in the 8000 S is also electrically operated.

How the Bosch gas water heater works

For a detailed acquaintance with the design of the Bosch Group of Companies, consider the structure of the device using an example from the Therm 4000 O series, model WR, equipped with piezo ignition.

The operation of a device equipped with a piezo ignition is extremely clear. To start, it is enough to set the thermostat to the “ON” position, press the regulator button, while holding down the ignition button with the help of a piezo. Hold the temperature control button until the appliance turns on. Use the same switch to select the desired temperature.

If you choose a water heater equipped with automatic ignition, it will be even easier to manage. To do this, open the DHW tap on the mixer, and that’s it – the column will start working by itself. This is facilitated by pre-installed batteries. All Bosch water heaters are equipped with branded batteries. They need to be changed about once a year. The device, the igniter of which lights up with the help of a piezo ignition, burns all the time, and in automatic units the flame goes out when the device is turned off.

What I like: mechanical control, no batteries. The wick will burn while you are at home. No flaws, so far has not required maintenance.

Dmitry, Moscow

At work, this is a great technique. Nothing extra. Externally made very high quality. But after a year of work it started leaking. Holes in the heat exchanger constantly have to be soldered. Tired already. Piezo ignition initially did not work, although there is a spark. You have to light it with matches. The Portuguese disappointed, regretted that he fell for the German brand.

Sergey, Suvorov

Easy to use and doesn’t take up much space. Hanging for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, it does not heat well in winter – it cannot be set up, and the pump is “to the point”. The master said that the problem is that I live on the top floor of a Soviet-built house. Who knows … by the way, everything is in order in the summer.

Bosch WR 13-2P

A gas water heater with a capacity of 13 liters and a heat output of 22,6 kW will heat water up to a maximum of 60 degrees. The inlet pressure is from 0,1 to 12 atm.

This model can run on LPG. The combustion chamber is open type. Piezo ignition provided. Management is mechanics. There is also a water temperature limiter. Installation of the device is classical – vertical. Attaches to the wall. Dimensions (WxDxH): 35×65,5×22 cm. GK weighs 13 kg. Price – from 10 880 rubles.

Wonderful unit. In use, however, not very long, but there are no obvious shortcomings. Compared to the old almost Soviet contraption, this is an excellent technique. When you turn on the water, the heating is smooth – you don’t get burned, and this is a significant plus. It works quietly and does not rattle when the water is turned on. The dimensions are modest, it didn’t take up much space, so there are only advantages.

This is my first column, so there is nothing to draw a parallel with. She worked for me for almost 5 years. In the third year of operation, I discovered that the wick was going out. I watched a video on YouTube on how to clean it, so I decided the issue myself. By the way, the piezo ignition also doesn’t work very well, so I always keep matches nearby. Otherwise – nothing, enough for a family of 4 people. Set up at two points: bath and kitchen. Filtering was not set.

Typical breakdowns

Most often, the owners of the Bosch Group of Companies are faced with such equipment malfunctions:

  • The igniter goes out or the main battery does not turn on on the first ignition attempt. In this case, you need to clean the pilot burner of the device.
  • The wick is extinguished or the igniter goes out when the user turns the tap on the mixer. Check the gas pressure reducer if the work is carried out on liquefied gas (in cylinders).
  • The water is not warm enough. Perhaps the thermostat is set incorrectly.
  • Igniter goes out from time to time. Most likely, the thrust sensor or thermal sensor is triggered. The elimination of these breakdowns should be entrusted to the master.
  • Insufficient water pressure through the GC. The heat exchanger, the water unit or the mixer itself could become clogged. It is worth identifying the blockage and cleaning it.
  • GC does not light up. If the column with the battery powered igniter does not ignite, replace the batteries.

The fact how to light a column, and you will learn about the reasons for the failure in a separate article.
