Get rid of excess water from your body!

Excess water in the body may be the result of diet, lifestyle, stimulants or, less frequently, genetic predispositions. It results in a swollen body, problems with weight loss and ailments in the legs. What to do to fight this unpleasant condition?

To begin with, it is worth dealing with a popular myth on this subject. If we suffer from excess water in the body, it does not mean that we should stop drinking water! Water contains minerals and trace elements that are necessary for the proper functioning of the body; it is also the best natural remedy and nourishing tonic. Dehydration is a very serious condition that must not be allowed, because it can end with weakness, mineral deficiency, organ failure and death.

However, this does not change the fact that excess water in the body can also be very troublesome. It results mainly in swelling of the body and legs, which is particularly troublesome, e.g. when walking. In addition, it means that, despite the diet, the weight will not indicate a loss of kilograms, the belly will be bloated and we will feel sluggish.

How to get rid of excess water from the body?

  1. First of all, it’s worth checking if there is too much salt in our diet. It causes the body to become swollen and water does not excrete properly. It is also worth paying attention to the presence of high-sodium water in the diet. If we have a problem with water retention in the body, choose low-sodium water and limit salt intake.
  2. Contrary to appearances, if we suffer from this ailment, we do not need to limit the amount of water we consume, on the contrary – we need to stimulate the kidneys to excrete deposits and increase their work, and the easiest way is to provide ourselves with a lot of fluids. If you don’t like drinking water, reach for soups. In addition, there are also fruits such as apples, strawberries, grapes and watermelons, which mostly consist of water. There are a lot of watery but tasty dishes, such as cream soups, water ice cream or fruit teas.
  3. One of the products that, next to salt, retain water in the body the most is alcohol. Therefore, if you spend your evenings with salted peanuts and beer, then water retention in the body is like in the bank. It is worth limiting alcohol in favor of other forms of relaxation and entertainment.
  4. The amount of traffic is also important. Most often, people who do not move regularly or spend all day sitting down complain about swelling caused by excess water. Just start with short walks or swimming a few times a week to notice the difference.
