Get rid of excess: 5 ways to improve the shape of the face

The second chin and chubby cheeks sometimes spoil the appearance even for slender people. And for those who “made supplies” for the winter, the results of gluttony appear, as they say, obvious. Fortunately, you can even fix this at home.

The reasons why defects such as a double chin and cheeks appear can be different. The most common of these are excess adipose tissue and muscle laxity. The neck and cheeks are the same “fat depots” as are the buttocks, thighs and abdomen: when gaining mass, all the excess is deposited in these areas in the first place. And if the body can be tightened through diet and regular training, then we rarely load the facial muscles. Especially if we spend half a day staring at the monitor with a relaxed expression, and not actively using facial expressions. Nevertheless, the situation can be corrected, for this you will need to perform special exercises for the muscles of the face, learn a few good habits and do not forget about proper skin care.

Do facial fitness

Start with a simple set of exercises from Indian fitness trainer and face-building Yasmina Karachivala. She recommends doing exercises every day without exception – for example, devote 10-15 minutes to them immediately after waking up or before bed.

“Giraffe”… Stretch your neck up and slide the fingers of both hands over it with light pressure from top to bottom, slightly pulling the skin of the neck. After completing three to five movements, place your fingers on the collarbones, tilt your head back a little and stretch your lips with the “duck” as far as possible. Repeat the entire cycle at first 15 times, and at the end of the workout do it again.

“Flirting eyes”… Place your index fingers horizontally on the apples of your cheeks so that they point towards each other and are close to your nose. Raise your head slightly and blink your eyes as hard as you can. This exercise is not only designed to emphasize the cheekbones and get rid of excess swelling in the cheeks, but also help remove bags and puffiness under the eyes. You need to perform it in 2-3 sets of 30 seconds each.

“Butterfly”… Place your index finger on your chin and smile broadly. Keep your lips tight so that they cover your teeth completely, and then begin to quickly open and close your mouth, as if your lips were the wings of a butterfly taking off. Without stopping to move your jaw, slowly tilt your head back as far as possible, look at the ceiling, and then work your way back. Repeat in two sets of 30-40 seconds.

Chew gum

Chewing gum is a great facial trainer: Chewing helps tone your chin, jaw and cheeks. As a result, cheekbones are drawn, and chubby cheeks become pretty muscular “apples”. In addition, chewing works to stretch the muscles of the face, which allows them to more quickly come into shape. If you notice that your chin is getting looser and starting to grow in volume, make it a rule to chew sugar-free gum 3-4 times a day after each meal for 10-15 minutes. In addition to working on a beautiful face contour, you will preserve healthy teeth and do not harm the figure: there are almost no calories in one piece or pad of chewing gum.

Watch your posture

One of the reasons why the second chin can “come out” is incorrect posture. Weak muscles in the shoulder girdle lead to a slouching position, which keeps the neck angled too far and the head sinks. Over time, this contributes to the appearance of folds in the upper part of the neck. To prevent this, control your posture: try to sit with a straight back, lower your shoulders and keeping your neck straight. Exercises for the back, such as “boat”, can also help a beautiful posture. To do it, you need to lie on your stomach, and then at the same time tear your arms, legs and chest off the floor. Hold the position for 2 seconds, then lower yourself to the floor and repeat from the very beginning 15-20 times.

Apply face and neck masks

With age, the skin loses its elasticity, so the once clear jawline sags, and chubby cheeks become like a Shar Pei, giving the face a tired look. Masks with a lifting effect will help restore the skin’s elasticity and tighten the oval of the face. Among the masks purchased, you should pay attention to those that contain ingredients such as amino acids, collagen, retinol, vitamins E and C. A firming effect can be achieved with homemade masks, for example, from egg white and honey. To prepare it, you need to mix the protein of one egg with two teaspoons of liquid honey. Apply the mixture to your face and neck, leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. It is necessary to repeat the mask 1-2 times a week, and you will notice the first positive results in a couple of months.

Self-massage

Regular neck and face massage is another way to combat sagging skin and make your face look slimmer. The most important thing is not to stretch the skin too much. The movements should be light and patting, and they should be performed strictly along the massage lines: from the center of the forehead to the temples, from the bridge of the nose to the wings of the nose, from the nose to the temples, from the center of the chin to the ears, along the neck from top to bottom. Massage should be performed at least 4-5 times a week, and preferably every day for 10-15 minutes. The effect will be enhanced by wheat germ oil, which nourishes the skin and initiates cell renewal processes, as well as a special roller massager.
