You should monitor your health regularly and not be limited to seeing a doctor if you have flu or respiratory infections. The absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean that you are fully healthy, nor is the lack of specific symptoms. That is why health prophylaxis is important. What general tests for women will allow for the early detection of chronic diseases?
General Screening for Women – When to Use It?
A convenient way to check your health is to execute screening tests with a multifaceted nature. General examinations for women are recommended prophylactically every year – mainly morphology, ESR, glucose and urine testing. However, it is worth extending them with additional tests, including lipid profile, liver tests, TSH, measurements of urea, creatinine and uric acid levels. Doctors usually refer you to multidirectional laboratory tests when indicated. These tests are included in the basket of basic services, but are not performed once a year as part of prophylaxis. However, we will perform such a research package at any time privately.
In addition to prophylaxis, general examinations should also be reported when symptoms such as chronic fatigue, weight fluctuations, skin changes or various chronic ailments of a different nature appear.

Basic general examinations for women
Properly profiled laboratory tests for women reduce the risk of your body developing an undetected disease. If we have a genetic predisposition to develop diseases from a particular group, it is worth doing the following tests:
- with a diabetic profile;
- with a hormonal profile for women;
- tumor markers for women.
W general screening package for women can be found:
- General urine test. The test involves a sample of urine provided by the patient. On its basis, it can be deduced how the kidneys work, but also whether the urinary system and the liver perform their functions properly. Urine testing is often ordered by doctors because of its versatility. Incorrect results also suggest the presence of systemic and civilization diseases (obesity, diabetes, hypertension). General urine test is an inexpensive test – depending on the laboratory, we will pay for it from 10 to 12 PLN.
- Complete morphology. It is a blood composition test specifying additional fractions of morphotic elements. In contrast to the basic blood count, we will learn the exact quantitative content of each group of leukocytes in the blood. Complete morphology helps detect infections, inflammations, anemia, problems with clotting, leukemia or problems with immunity. In most laboratories, we should not pay more than PLN 20 for the test.
- OB study. Another popular test that is most often performed together with the blood count. Thanks to the measurement of Biernacki’s reaction, inflammation and the likelihood of autoimmune diseases or cancer can be identified. The price of the OB test is about PLN 8.
- Glucose testing. Blood glucose levels that are not within the normal range are often an indicator of diabetes, but also of possible disorders of the adrenal glands and pituitary gland. In some cases, it is associated with glucose intolerance or the presence of an insulin tumor. In a healthy person, glucose is also absent in the urine. The price of a blood glucose test is about PLN 12.
- Electrolyte measurement. The ions present in the blood plasma are the source of data on the body’s electrolyte balance. Incorrect levels of electrolytes such as sodium and potassium may contribute to malaise, irritability, weakness, constipation and swelling. Among the many possible causes of this test’s abnormal results are hypothyroidism, type 1 diabetes and Addison’s disease. For the measurement of electrolytes, we will pay about PLN 15 (for sodium and potassium).
- Lipidogram. Testing cholesterol and triglyceride levels is important to assess the body’s fat management. Based on blood tests, we are able to determine the risk of atherosclerosis and its consequences, including stroke or heart attack. Abnormal values present in the lipid profile appear in diabetes, overweight, hypertension, and in the case of genetic tendencies to accumulate bad LDL cholesterol. The price of the test ranges from PLN 20 to PLN 50.
- ALT measurement. Testing the level of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), an enzyme related to the liver, can detect cirrhosis, jaundice, inflammation and Wilson’s disease. ALT can also be an indicator of the occurrence of a heart attack. The price of the ALT test is about PLN 10.
- AST measurement. The enzyme aspartate aminotransferase (AST) is the second, next to ALT, liver test that is good to perform as part of general testing for women. Exceeding the norm may indicate liver diseases such as viral inflammation caused by HBV or HCV. The price of the test is approximately PLN 10.
- Urea concentration. The blood test for urea is one of the studies focused on examining the condition of the kidneys. Its cost is on average PLN 8.
- Test of creatinine levels. Creatinine is another indicator of kidney function, next to urea. Usually, its level is checked in the blood serum and sometimes also in the urine. Blood creatinine measurements cost about PLN 8.
- Uric acid test. By monitoring the level of uric acid in the blood, conditions such as urolithiasis and gout can be diagnosed. Its high level also occurs in some genetic diseases (e.g. von Gierke’s disease) or lead poisoning, and a low level occurs in some diseases of the kidneys, liver or celiac disease. The price of the test is on average PLN 10-20.
- TSH study. One of the hormones important in the health diagnosis of women is TSH. It is produced by the pituitary gland, although its effect is crucial in the context of the thyroid gland. Inadequate TSH levels may be associated with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, and its testing is important in the diagnostic process of fertility problems. We will pay about PLN 20-30 for the TSH marking.
Frequent headaches, drowsiness, fatigue, stress – these are just some of the symptoms that may indicate health problems. The uPatient medical platform has prepared a package of 20 diagnostic blood tests intended for women. You can buy them on Medonet Market.
If we decide to undergo regular health prophylaxis, the easiest way is to do the full package of tests on your own. We do not need a referral then, and the set of laboratory tests will be cheaper than paying for individual tests individually.
