General magnetotherapy is a relatively young technique in medicine, which is used to improve the whole body. Modulation and induction of the magnetic field is the basis of this type of treatment. The procedure itself has a positive effect on the vital organs of the human body.
This technique has its origins in the distant past. However, there is an official date for the appearance of magnetotherapy – 1780, when doctors in France confirmed the fact that the magnetic field is able to deal with severe pain. And now, no one denies it. Indeed, by carrying out this procedure, swelling decreases in a person, spasms and pain cease to bother. In addition, tissue repair occurs and metabolism improves. Magnetotherapy has a positive effect on the entire human body. To carry out the procedure, the patient is placed in a special installation. It evenly affects all important organs and systems.
Types of general magnetotherapy
There are two types of general magnetotherapy: low-frequency and high-intensity. At low frequency, an electromagnetic field of low frequency is used. Experts convince that this method stimulates the human body and increases its resistance to stress. In addition, the nervous system is very sensitive to it, since it can have various effects on it: excitatory and inhibitory. Low-frequency magnetotherapy has a therapeutic effect on a person in the form of improved blood circulation, macrocirculation and microcirculation. Also in patients, the inflammatory process decreases and a decongestant effect is noted. This method dilates blood vessels, stops headaches and spasms.
The second type is high-intensity magnetotherapy. This is the way in which the pulses are not higher than a few milliseconds. The method of exposure is eddy electric currents, which are given off in human tissues by a pulsed magnetic field. Thanks to this procedure, blood circulation improves in a person, inflammation and swelling decrease. Doctors recommend using it for stroke of the brain, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, disorders of the musculoskeletal system, diseases of the digestive system, as well as for abortion, but only in the early stages.
Indications for the procedure
Usually doctors prescribe a course of general magnetotherapy. It is prescribed both for a therapeutic effect on almost all organs of the human body, and for the purposes of prevention and postoperative recovery. He is lengthy.
It is recommended for patients with:
- osteochondrosis of the spine, arthritis, bruises and osteoarthritis;
- circulatory disorders of the spinal cord and brain;
- insufficiency of blood circulation of the brain, the consequences of neuroinfections;
- arterial hypertension, edema, vasculitis, hemorrhoids, diabetes mellitus, lymphostasis;
- pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis;
- ulcers, gastritis, pancreatitis, enterocolitis;
- pyelonephritis, prostatitis, adnexitis, uterine fibroids (only up to 12 weeks);
- eczema, psoriasis;
- neurosis, chronic fatigue.
Contraindications to the procedure
Magnetotherapy should be carried out exclusively under the full supervision of a physician. Otherwise, it is strictly prohibited. In some cases, the effect of magnetotherapy on a person has not been fully studied. Therefore, it is important to know about the contraindications for the procedure. The most important physicians consider:
- pregnancy;
- blood diseases;
- the presence of pacemakers or other magnetic objects;
- infectious diseases;
- mental disorders;
- postinfarction period in the early stages.
Procedure
In order to carry out the procedure of general magnetotherapy, an installation is needed that induces the given magnetic fields. It is usually carried out in a hospital. The patient lies down comfortably, and the device is connected to him. The doctor sets the strength of the impact, which was previously prescribed by the doctor. The first session lasts no more than 5 minutes. In the future, their duration increases. However, sessions longer than 20 minutes are not allowed.
It is worth noting that the magnetic field is able to penetrate even through gypsum. The patient should not go to the procedure with an empty stomach, doctors advise eating dietary food. During the course, alcohol should be completely excluded. In addition, the time factor is considered an important aspect – doctors recommend performing the procedure at the same time. This contributes to the fastest recovery.
General magnetotherapy is prescribed not only for patients, in practice it is often used by athletes. So, during the procedure, their autonomic nervous system improves, physical activity increases, regardless of what kind of sport a person is engaged in.
Usually, the first effect of general magnetotherapy is observed immediately by patients. After the procedure, the head stops hurting, the spine does not torment, the state of health improves, and so on. This method does not cure a person, but simply gives a “kick” to the body and makes it work, as a result – to increase its protective functions.
The magnetotherapy procedure is comfortable and somewhat pleasant. If you go through the right course of treatment, then the effect does not stop for several months. And doctors, in turn, advise repeating the magnetotherapy procedure at least twice a year. In addition, this is one of the few methods of drug-free treatment with a minimum number of side effects and complications. Despite the fact that the recovery and healing of the body after general magnetic therapy is slow and long, it does without antibiotics and harm to the body.
