Gelovox is a medical device in the form of lozenges with a cherry-menthol flavor. It is used to protect the mucosa of the mouth and throat. This drug reduces tiring cough and sore throat. What are Gelovox lozenges characterized by? What action do they show and what are the contraindications for the use of Gelovox lozenges?

Characteristics of Gelovox lozenges

Gelovox lozenges are a medical device intended for adults and children over 6 years of age. This product is multi-component with the main substances being xanthan, carbomer and sodium hyaluronate. The other substances supplementing the Gelovox composition are isomalt, sodium bicarbonate, xylitol, citric acid, macrogol, flavors (cherry, menthol), potassium monohydrogen phosphate, zinc stearate, silicon dioxide and sucralose. Gelovox is a preparation that does not contain sugar, lactose, gluten or additives of animal origin. Gelovox tablets are available in pharmacies and online medical stores without a prescription. The price of the product ranges from PLN 23 to PLN 30 depending on the distributor. Gelovox can be used several times a day, 1 tablet every 2-3 hours, preferably after a meal. The dose of 6 tablets a day should not be exceeded. Gelovox should be sucked slowly until completely dissolved, not chewed or swallowed whole. The product can be used on an ad hoc basis or for a long time with short breaks. The product should be stored at a temperature below 25 ° C, in a dry place out of the reach of children. After each tablet is taken out, make sure that the container is carefully and tightly closed.

Action of the Gelovox lozenge

Gelovox tablets protect the oral cavity and throat mucosa. After dissolving, tablets form a characteristic hydrogel complex, which contains hyaluronic acid, adhering to the mucous membranes, forming a coating that protects irritated areas. Gelovox is used for long-term moisturizing of the oral mucosa and throat in such ailments as: chronic pharyngitis, dry throat, grunting and hoarseness, the so-called reflex cough and painful swallowing. Gelovox is a product that supports activities in the voice disorder that may occur in the event of vocal exertion, infections of the nose and throat or as a result of the use of inhaled medications. Gelovox is recommended for people who work with their voice on a daily basis, in air-conditioned rooms, smokers and living in areas with significant air pollution.

Contraindications to the use of Gelovox tablets

The use of a higher dose of Gelovox may cause diarrhea or other gastrointestinal discomfort. Gelovox tablets should not be used if you are allergic to any component of the product, as it may cause an allergic reaction. People who have significantly reduced saliva production are advised to consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Gelovox. In addition, people with hereditary fructose intolerance should not take Gelovox, but due to the fact that the drug does not contain sugar, it can be used by people with diabetes. Due to the fact that one tablet of Gelovox contains 3,2 mmol sodium, people on a low salt diet should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine. There is no information that could prove contraindications in the use of Gelovox by pregnant women or women during breastfeeding.
