These beads are usually 3,5-4 cm in diameter. The name of this gadget is related to its history. The balls were used from the XNUMXth century by geishas of that time. Efficient functioning of the pelvic floor muscles is very important not only for women who are expecting a baby in the near future. They are necessary in everyday functioning, so it is worth checking if their operation has not been weakened by various factors.
The first symptom of pelvic floor muscle weakness is urinary incontinence. Even passing a small amount of urine, for example during laughter or heavy physical exertion, may indicate a weakening of the Kegel muscles. In addition, when they weaken, problems may arise in the course of sex. Importantly, weakened Kegel muscles may not give any symptoms even for several years.
Doctors rarely decide to perform tests that would check their efficiency. Therefore, it is worth doing a self-test to find out if the pelvic floor muscles are working properly. A simple test can be done while urinating. While urinating, try to stop the urine flow and tighten your perineum tightly. If you manage to stop the flow, there is a high probability that the Kegel muscles are working properly. In the case of weakened pelvic floor muscles, despite the tightening of the perineum, urine will continue to flow out without being able to control it. This situation is a signal that you should see a doctor.
A gynecologist is a specialist who diagnoses the performance of the pelvic floor muscles. The dysfunction of these muscles can also be found by a physiotherapist or a specialist in urogynecological physiotherapy.

Exercise with geisha balls they should last from a few minutes to even several hours a day. The duration of the exercises should depend on the possibilities and predispositions of each woman. It is important, however, to perform the exercises systematically, because this is the only way to get good results in the form of strengthened Kegel muscles.
How to practice? Well, first of all, you should properly apply geisha balls. All the balls are placed, not just a part. Geisha balls are put on just like a tampon. Therefore, whenever you put them on, you should relax your vaginal muscles and take the right position. Inserting the balls into the vagina and wearing them should be comfortable, so before application it is worth reaching for a lubricant that will moisturize the vaginal walls. While geisha balls should not be used during pregnancy, their use is highly recommended after delivery. Exercises performed with geisha balls help to regain the former strength in the muscles and at the same time make the vagina more flexible, which results in greater comfort during sex. However, geisha balls should not be used right after giving birth. It is advisable to wait with exercise until at least the end of the puerperium period.
