Geisha balls are an erotic gadget that not only enriches your intimate life. As it turns out – the balls train the Kegel muscles, facilitate childbirth and accelerate the return to the former form. How to exercise with balls? Are they recommended for pregnant women? Here is some information.

Geisha balls, or vaginal balls, or else love balls, are an erotic gadget that is used to exercise the Kegel muscles. Structurally, geisha balls are balls connected with each other with a durable string.

These beads are usually 3,5-4 cm in diameter. The name of this gadget is related to its history. The balls were used from the XNUMXth century by geishas of that time. Thanks to the balls, the pelvic floor muscles are kept in perfect condition. This is very important because the Kegel muscles get weaker as the years go by. It is also worth mentioning that geisha balls are helpful in urinary incontinence, which is why they are recommended by urologists and gynecologists. Geisha balls are used for two main reasons. First, to improve the quality and experience of sexual activity. Second, to take care of your intimate health.

Important! Hygiene is extremely important when using geisha balls. Geisha balls should be washed before each use, as well as after their application. It is best to wash the geisha balls in warm water with a mild detergent or using a gel for intimate hygiene.

Geisha balls – types

In practice, you can meet four types of geisha balls:

  1. gravity geisha balls – otherwise progressive, they come in the form of two or more weights of different weights. Progressive balls are recommended as a gadget to stimulate foreplay. Rather, they should be avoided by women planning to give birth to a child, because geisha balls may overtrain the Kegel muscles;
  2. biofeedback geisha balls – they are suitable for Kegel exercises. They are definitely lighter than the gravitational ones and have a more advanced structure. In the center of the larger balls there are smaller ones that, when shaken, rattle. The rattling, on the other hand, causes the Kegel muscles to vibrate, which causes the muscles of the pelvic floor to contract involuntarily;
  3. silicone geisha balls -Currently, in many shops with erotic gadgets, you can get geisha balls made of silicone. This material is very easy to keep clean and hygienic. The silicone balls are soft to the touch, heat up quickly and keep warm for a long time. When using this type of balls, remember to use lubricants made of water. Those containing silicone can quickly destroy the coating of the balls;
  4. vibrating geisha balls – this is the most modern type of balls available on the market. They are usually used for a greater foreplay experience. A remote control is attached to the vibrating geisha balls, which can be used to control the vibration level. There is a simple mechanism in the vibrating balls. There are smaller balls or one heavier ball placed in the ball. When walking or running with such a ball, the smaller balls are set in motion and the vibrations caused by it further stimulate the muscles of the vagina.

Geisha balls and pelvic floor muscles

People who use geisha balls usually point out that it is a great gadget for exercising the pelvic floor muscles. The pelvic floor muscles are a group of 14 muscles interspersed with nerves. They are surrounded by connective tissue and close the opening of the bone pelvis from below. The pelvic floor muscles surround the urethra, vagina and anus, and at the same time support the entire reproductive organ and viscera. These muscles also stabilize the spine.

The pelvic floor muscles are also called the Kegel muscles. The name comes from the name of the American gynecologist who developed the scientific basis for the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles at the turn of the 40s and 50s. Arnold Kegel spread the exercises that geisha used to do to enrich their sex life among women suffering from bladder failure.

Kegel muscles affect the proper functioning of almost the entire body. On the one hand, they ensure adequate intra-abdominal pressure, and on the other hand, they support and stabilize the iliopsoas-pelvis complex.

Efficient functioning of the pelvic floor muscles is very important not only for women who are expecting a baby in the near future. They are necessary in everyday functioning, so it is worth checking if their operation has not been weakened by various factors.

The first symptom of pelvic floor muscle weakness is urinary incontinence. Even passing a small amount of urine, for example during laughter or heavy physical exertion, may indicate a weakening of the Kegel muscles. In addition, when they weaken, problems may arise in the course of sex. Importantly, weakened Kegel muscles may not give any symptoms even for several years.

Doctors rarely decide to perform tests that would check their efficiency. Therefore, it is worth doing a self-test to find out if the pelvic floor muscles are working properly. A simple test can be done while urinating. While urinating, try to stop the urine flow and tighten your perineum tightly. If you manage to stop the flow, there is a high probability that the Kegel muscles are working properly. In the case of weakened pelvic floor muscles, despite the tightening of the perineum, urine will continue to flow out without being able to control it. This situation is a signal that you should see a doctor.

A gynecologist is a specialist who diagnoses the performance of the pelvic floor muscles. The dysfunction of these muscles can also be found by a physiotherapist or a specialist in urogynecological physiotherapy.

Intensive exercise with geisha balls is that they are worn during physical activities such as running, dancing or aerobics. Pregnant geisha balls are not a good solution. As it turns out – the Kegel muscles at this time are already heavily burdened with the necessity of carrying the baby developing in the womb. Sometimes geisha balls can be used in the third trimester of pregnancy, but this decision should be consulted with the midwife or the teacher from the birth school.

It is also worth remembering that too strong and trained Kegel muscles may hinder the course of labor. If the pelvic floor muscles are highly trained, it is difficult for women to relax them.
