Gastronomy reaches schools

Something as ours as it is the gastronomy, and as current as the Mediterranean diet, was not present inside our classrooms.

It had to be in 2015, and better late than never, when three organizations, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Royal Academy of Gastronomy and the Spanish Nutrition Foundation have today expanded their collaboration agreement to offer schools didactic materials with whom to learn in the years of Infant and Primary, the main concepts of gastronomy and healthy eating.

Not in vain we are in the cradle of gastronomy and in the land of gastronomic fashion of the XNUMXst century and it seemed a lie that until mature age this concern did not exist in our society.

Being able to transmit culinary culture, healthy habits and of course knowing how to relate it to eating daily will be a huge advance to help our youngest children take care of their bodies from the daily meal.

Within this framework of collaboration, each of the parties must contribute their grain of sand, in order to develop the methodologies and topics to be studied, a mission that falls within the competencies of the Ministry.

For the implementation, the Ministry of Education will be in charge of the elaboration of the method and the use of the different didactic materials that are obtained as well as the revision, updating and adaptation of the same.

The other two entities will be in charge of putting educational material on the table, such as videos and texts so that our little sponges learn from the beginning to eat well and their history, which is part of our DNA.

Thanks to the actions that have been carried out in this area for years, we saw how our gastronomy was first protected, and then we could transmit it in the classrooms.

Little by little we will see how a true source of culture and learning is consolidated that will not only form but is also immediately applicable in the daily use and customs of the Spanish.

And they will surely be the antidote to pathologies that are harmful to health and derived from a poor diet such as overweight, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc …
