Gastronomic Route of Carnival

A gastronomic festival full of Ternasco de Aragón, specially developed for the exaltation of the senses.

The carnival is closely related to the gastronomic activity, the end of the winter season and the preparation of the body for the fasts of Lent are one of the traditions that have reached our days in the form of exquisite delicacies and sweets.

The bacchanalia and pagan excesses from which the tradition dates back, have given a quantity and varied recipes of not inconsiderable foods for low-calorie diets that are not only developed in our country, in all parts of the world from Brazil to the United States passing through the old Europe.

Sweets stand out like torrijas, pestiños, fried milk, cakes and pancakes, who compete to win the best carnival dish in Pan cakes, Berlinas or feijoadas…

But what we are going to develop today is a Carnival gastronomic route really specific and located in the Hispanic Aragon.

With the sponsorship of Ternasco Ternasco de Aragón, a brand created and developed for the development and dissemination of Aragonese Suckling Lamb Meat, it is endorsed by the Department of Agriculture, livestock and environment of the Government of Aragon, and not in vain it is the first fresh meat accepted as a Specific Denomination within the European scope of PGI, Protected Geographical Indication.

To this Carnival route, a total of 100 hospitality establishments from Saragossa, They have developed culinary creations based on this raw material that can be tasted by visitors to the city from today 12 to 14 February.

The lamb is a lamb fed by breast milk from birth, being able to supplement it with natural cereals, and slaughtered within 90 days of delivery.

To carry out the disguised delicacy, the development of the cooks is covered with ingenuity and creativity, which have led to:

Ternasco sausage is a sausage exponent worthy representative of the best sheep meat from Aragonese livestock and these proposals are a sample of the varieties and multiple applications that can be carried out.
