Gastronomic culture with a Fabada
The gastronomic contest is open to the participation of all restaurants that make fabada, whether or not they are within our borders.
After a few days of opening the registration to the contest type contest of “the Best Fabada in the World”, You can see how the different restaurants throughout the peninsula believe in their product and are already filling the lists of candidates.
The contest is organized by the Villaviciosa City Council and the Gustatio gastronomic events company and its duration extends over two intense months of gastronomic culture.
So far they are already confirmed fifty restaurants and catering establishments, ready to cook and get the accolade.
The deadline to get your fabada to be the best in the world ends on the 30th of this month of December, cheer up!
The Fabadas and their origins
Hospitality establishments in Asturias, but also in Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia, Malaga and A Coruña are already registered in this seventh edition of the gastronomic contest. And for the first time, a restaurant from outside of Spain, is also presented to it.
The Principality of Asturias continues to accumulate fabadas and therefore it is the community with the most participants.

All this staging is much more than the simple fact of recognizing the fabada of each house as the best, it is undoubtedly a perfect gastronomic marketing tool, to generate a substantial increase in the number of diners at the restaurant participating in the event, as well as the media repercussion as of which we are echoing.
The award and the jury of the gastronomic event
To be able to win the prize, you have to go through several phases, as well as distinguish yourself among the competitors.
The jury must taste the product at least 3 times to be able to pass the first cut, with blind tastings in the establishments carried out by the members of the jury.
Thus, the kitchen of each day must be the same, so that the vote is clearly balanced and thus be able to choose to be one of the finalists.
The national semifinal, in which the 10 best fabadas from outside Asturias are tasted, will take place on Monday, February 6 at the Asturian Center of Madrid.
And the grand finale of the contest “The Best Fabada in the World 2017” It will be on Tuesday, March 21, starting at five in the afternoon, in the municipality of Villaviciosa.
The event is framed within a week of culture and gastronomy promoted by the municipality between March 24 and 26, in which most of the council’s restaurants participate.
