Garnier “Basic care”: natural cosmetics

Good news for fans of natural cosmetics: the well-deserved French brand has released a whole line of such products. We study the list of names and composition, as well as the opinions of those who have already managed to try out the new items in action.

Features of the Garnier “Basic care” line

Fans of the Garnier brand are hard to surprise with natural ingredients: from the very beginning, the brand has used natural sources to create formulas. By the way, the main ingredient of the first Garnier product, released almost a hundred years ago, was cornflower extract. Today, using the accumulated experience and new opportunities, the brand has completely updated the “Basic Care” line and presented a range that fully meets the expectations of the modern consumer.

  • Natural ingredients. All products are 96% natural ingredients. The remaining 4% is the required minimum to ensure formula stability and texture nice properties. Parabens, synthetic dyes and silicones are absent.

  • Clear composition. The list of ingredients is written on the packaging, and you don’t need to be a chemist to figure it out.

  • Eco-friendly packaging. The plastic is 30% recycled, the bottles are 100% recyclable, the FSC-certified cardboard is the brand’s contribution to the sustainable use of forest resources.

  • Laws of “green cosmetics”. The ingredients are obtained from renewable sources.

Funds overview

Series “Flower honey” for dry and very dry skin

The eponymous nourishing and restorative ingredient Garnier purchases from manufacturers in the Sheka Game Reserve in Ethiopia. And thus contributes to the conservation of local rainforests and traditional methods of beekeeping.

“Honey is harvested without disturbing the natural life cycle of the bee. Every 4-5 months the beekeeper returns to the forest, to the hives. The collected honey is heated and carefully filtered,” says Garnier expert dermatologist Marina Kamanina.

  1. Make-up remover milk with flower honey removes makeup qualitatively and at the same time as delicately as possible, leaving the skin silky.

  2. Purifying gel with flower honey forms a fragrant foam that removes impurities from the skin without drying it. The formula combines honey with glycerin for a comfortable cleansing experience.

  3. Botanic cream with flower honey provides a feeling of comfort, nourishing and moisturizing the skin for 48 hours, reducing the discomfort caused by dryness over time.

Series “Rose water” for dry, sensitive skin

Rose water is an ingredient chosen for its soothing, softening and antioxidant properties. This series uses, among other things, a Damascus rose grown in Bulgaria.

“In order to preserve the aroma and naturalness, we process the petals of the Damascus rose by steam distillation,” says Marina Kamanina.

Rose Water Facial Toner completes the make-up removal and cleansing procedure, and at the same time soothes the skin and prepares it for subsequent care.

Series “Grape extract” for normal and combination skin

Grapes were included in the list of the main components of the line for their ability to refresh and moisturize the skin at the same time. Garnier uses grapes of Italian origin and turns them into pure grape water using an instant distillation method. No solvents or preservatives are used – only berries and water.

“It takes three to five kilograms of grapes to produce one liter of grape water,” says Garnier expert Marina Kamanina.

Grape-based products

Gel-foam with grape extract fights toxins, removes excess sebum, impurities and everything that can interfere with impeccable cleanliness of the skin, and therefore its freshness, radiance and health. Contains aloe extract.

Refreshing tonic with grape extract removes make-up residue, leaving a feeling of pristine cleanliness and freshness.

Botanic cream with grape extract gives elasticity, moisturizes, with constant use regulates the water-fat balance and gives the face a radiant, fresh look.

Green tea series for combination, oily skin

Cosmetics manufacturers value green tea for its ability to cleanse and mattify the skin, restoring its balance. For Garnier, this ingredient is grown in China and its extract is obtained through a natural evaporation process.

“Tea leaves are harvested from Camellia sinensis bushes, cleaned, ground, and made into an aqueous extract, which is then filtered. The resulting filtrate is thickened by evaporation, mixed with organic maltodextrin (sugar) and dried,” explains Marina Kamanina.

Botanic cream with green tea extract reduces oily shine, immediately mattifies the skin, while not forgetting to moisturize it for 48 hours in a row.
