Gardimax medica spray is a preparation that has a disinfecting and anesthetic (local) effect. The properties are due to the presence of two active substances:

  1. Lidocaine – is a local anesthetic that inhibits the generation and conduction of nerve stimuli. It is distinguished by a rapid onset of action;
  2. Chlorhexidine – shows disinfecting and anti-inflammatory properties. The action is directed against bacteria and yeasts.

Gardimax medica – when can it be used?

Gardimax spray is a preparation used in the symptomatic treatment of pain associated with inflammation of the throat and mouth. Gardimax aerosol is also used for irritation of the mouth and throat.

Gardimax medica – composition

The active substances of Gardimax medica are:

  1. Chlorhexidine digluconate solution 20 mg / 10 ml; 
  2. Lidocaine hydrochloride 5 mg / 10 ml. 

In turn, the auxiliary substances of the drug are:

  1. Ethanol proc.; 
  2. Glycerol; 
  3. Lewomentol; 
  4. Cyneol; 
  5. Sodium saccharin; 
  6. Citric acid monohydrate; 
  7. Purified Water. 

Gardimax medica – dosage

The preparation in the form of an aerosol should be used according to the doctor’s instructions or the provisions in the drug leaflet. Detailed information is as follows:

  1. Children from 30 months of age – 2-3 doses at a time, but not more than 3-5 times a day; 
  2. Adults and children over 12 years of age: 3-5 doses once, but not more than 6-10 times a day.

Remember that Gardimax medica aerosol should be taken for a maximum of 3-4 days. If after this time the symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult a doctor who will change the treatment of pain associated with inflammation of the throat and mouth.

Gardimax medica – user manual

Gardimax medica has a dosing pump with a collapsible dosing tip. To use the spray, point the tip towards the throat and then press the pump.

The dosing tip must be washed daily. The best way to do this is to turn the bottle upside down first so that any liquid left in the dispensing tip is removed. Then unscrew the tip and rinse it in hot water for a few minutes. Then set it aside to dry and then reattach it to the bottle.

Gardimax medica – contraindications to use

Gardimax spray is a preparation that cannot be used in the case of:

  1. Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation; 
  2. The drug cannot be used in children under 30 months of age.

Gardimax medica – precautions

Warnings about the use of Gardimax medica spray:

  1. The drug should not be used for a long time;  
  2. Do not exceed recommended doses;  
  3. It is not allowed to use the preparation immediately before a meal or drinking liquids;  
  4. Due to the reduced sensitivity to temperature, there is a risk of burns to the throat and mouth; 
  5. You can not use the spray one dose after another; 
  6. Avoid contact of the spray with the ears and eyes; 
  7. If undesirable seizures occur in children, treatment should be discontinued. 

It should also be taken into account that Gardimax medica contains ethanol – 168 mg in five doses is equivalent to 0,85 ml of beer and 0,35 ml of a glass of wine. This is especially important in the case of Gardimex dosing by pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as people suffering from liver disorders and epilepsy.

Gardimax has no influence on the operation of machines and driving of vehicles.

Gardimax medica – interactions with other drugs

Gardimax spray may interact with other medications, therefore you should inform your doctor about all preparations you are taking.

Caution should be exercised when taking in parallel:

  1. Cholinesterase inhibitors; 
  2. Other antiseptic preparations; 
  3. Drugs that induce the formation of methaemoglobin; 
  4. Beta blockers; 
  5. It’s a joke; 
  6. Inhaled anesthetics; 
  7. Muscle relaxants.  

Gardimax medica – side effect

The use of Gardimax may involve a risk of side effects. The most common ones include:

  1. Immune system disorders (allergic reaction: rash, itching, flaking inside the mouth, swelling of the salivary glands); 
  2. Nervous system disorders (dysgeusia); 
  3. Digestive system disorders (burning sensation on the tongue, appearance of brown discoloration on the tongue and teeth). 

Can Gardimax medica be overdosed?

The lidocaine contained in Gardimax medica may cause overdose symptoms with the greatest effect on the cardiovascular and nervous systems. The most common symptoms of overdose with Gardimax medica aerosol are:

  1. Anxiety; 
  2. Yawning; 
  3. Somnolence; 
  4. Tinnitus; 
  5. Nystagmus; 
  6. Seizures; 
  7. Depression; 
  8. Muscle tremors; 
  9. Bradycardia; 
  10. Arterial hypotension; 
  11. Heart arythmia; 
  12. Cardiac arrest.

If any symptoms appear, stop dosing immediately and consult a physician.

Gardimax medica – can the drug be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

In the case of pregnant and breastfeeding women, taking any medications should be consulted with a doctor. This also applies to the use of Gardimex aerosol, primarily for ethanol contained in its composition.

Pregnant women must absolutely not take this drug, while breastfeeding women should discontinue their baby if they want to take Gardimax.

Gardimax medica – how to store the spray?

Gardimax medica should be stored in the original package in a shaded place. Make sure that this is out of the reach of children.

The drug must not be used after the expiry date. In this case, it is best to ask the pharmacist what to do, because Gardimax should not be thrown away with other waste, and should not be poured into the sewage system.

Gardimax medica is available over the counter. It can be purchased stationary or online. The price of Gardimax medica may vary – it depends primarily on a specific pharmacy. The cost, however, ranges from 10 to 15 zlotys.
