Garden oxalis flower: reproduction

The oxalis flower bears great resemblance to clover due to its three-toed leaves. But there are many other ornamental species of this plant with variegated leaves and bright flowers.

In the forests, oxalis is often found – a low perennial with a creeping rhizome and three-toed leaves.

Oxalis flower is an excellent ground cover plant

Other types:

  • Garden form of common sour sorrel. Frost-resistant species. The flowers have a rich dark pink color of flowers. The plant grows well and forms a dense carpet in a short time.
  • Nine-leaved oxalis. A perennial plant 12-15 cm high. Large pink or white flowers look good against the background of silvery-green leaves of a fancy carved shape. Prefers sunny areas.
  • Regnell’s acid. It blooms with small snow-white flowers. The leaves have a rich burgundy color. Growing rapidly. Often cultivated as a houseplant.
  • Depp’s acid. Height – 30−37 cm. Green four-toed leaves have a brown center. Raspberry-red flowers are collected in inflorescences.

Almost all plant species are thermophilic and do not tolerate frost well. Therefore, for the winter period, it is advisable to cover them with mulch or spruce branches.

Watering is necessary only in dry weather. As top dressing, you can use mullein infusion or complex mineral fertilizers. Enough 2-3 dressings per season. Plants prefer diffused lighting and grow best in partial shade.

Acid can be propagated in three ways:

  • seeds;
  • dividing tubers;
  • by cuttings.

In the first case, seeds are planted for seedlings around April. After the threat of the return of spring frosts has passed, the plants can be planted in open ground. Some species can be sown directly outdoors in late April or early May.

For the winter, you need to separate the children from the tubers and store them in a warm, dry room. In the spring, they must be planted in open ground at a distance of 10 cm from each other at a depth of 4-5 cm. The planting material can also be planted in pots. In this case, after 5 weeks, bushes will grow from the tubers, ready to bloom. Cold-resistant species can be planted in the fall to a depth of 10 cm.

You can cut a leaf with a part of the stem and put it in water. When the stalk has roots, transplant it into a pot.

Kislitsa is well suited for rockeries, alpine slides or miniature rocky gardens.
