Garden laying: project

Laying a garden in a summer cottage is a difficult matter, you need to take into account many important points, buy high-quality seedlings, place them correctly, think over a place for a flower garden and a gazebo. With a successful layout, the garden will bear fruit for many years and delight your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Planting an orchard, three steps in planning

To begin with, it is advisable to determine the acidity of the soil and the level of its fertility, to find out how close the groundwater is to the surface. Most plants prefer neutral or alkaline fertile soils. With groundwater close to the surface, seedlings will need to be planted on artificially created elevations or flower beds.

Gardening is a multi-year project and your grandchildren will benefit from it.

The second important step is drawing up a plan for planting seedlings, it can be drawn on a sheet. Having created such a plan, you can calculate how many trees will fit on the site if they are planted at the required distance.

Tall trees are planted at a distance of 5 or 6 meters from each other, undersized varieties are enough 3-4 meters. For columnar seedlings, a distance of 70 cm will be the optimal distance for normal development.

The third important point is the selection of varieties. It is advisable to buy winter-hardy and disease-resistant trees. If the plot is small, it is better to plant seedlings on it on dwarf rootstocks, columnar apple trees, undersized fruit varieties. More winter-hardy varieties should be placed on the northern side of the site, drought-resistant on an elevation, and those that love high humidity – on a decrease.

Orchard bookmarking project

In the garden, spatial separation must be observed. It is advisable to plant apple trees in a group at one end of the garden, cherries at the other. This will increase the yield due to cross-pollination, will allow you to comply with different processing times for diseases and pests.

It is necessary to take into account the characteristics of each type of fruit trees. Observe the requirements for soil composition, fertilizers, lighting. Most plants love light, so you can’t plant large trees in the center of the site or on its south side.

If you plan to make vegetable beds in your garden, arrange them from north to south so that the sun shines evenly on the plants. A birch or linden growing on the site will interfere with the development of the orchard, it is advisable to cut it down.

When planning to plant an orchard in the country, you must definitely think about where to install a bench for rest, in addition to planting fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, a lawn, a flower garden. Therefore, it is advisable to immediately think about what the style of the garden will be: regular, with clear geometric shapes, or natural, natural.
