The blackberry of the first year of life must be grown up to one meter, and then cut off the top of it by ten centimeters. After the side shoots appear, the base must be shortened by another half a meter.

In addition to pinching young shoots, in the fall or early spring, the stems damaged by insects and infected with diseases are removed. Underdeveloped, frozen and broken shoots are also cut out.
