Games for children with cerebral palsy: mobile, educational, role-playing

Games for children with cerebral palsy help strengthen muscles, develop memory and thinking, as well as make friends with sick children. The gameplay should take place under the guidance of an instructor.

Role-playing and outdoor games for children with cerebral palsy

Children with cerebral palsy have more than just coordination and muscle development problems. Often, sick babies have mental development lagging behind. To solve such problems during the educational or educational process, developing, didactic and other games are used. They are different for healthy children and children with developmental problems.

Games for children with cerebral palsy stimulate their development

When educating patients with cerebral palsy, the following games are used:

  • “A ball is rolling down the mountain.” Suitable for preschool children. Two children are involved – one takes the ball down the slide, and the other has to catch it from below. Each time the children have to change places. The game promotes the development of coordination of movements, strengthens muscles and improves joint mobility.
  • “Do not hit the obstacle.” Make a gate out of four chairs, and the size of the passage should be 0,5 meters. The guys must overcome the obstacle so as not to hurt or knock down anything. First, the little ones play with their eyes open, and then with their eyes closed. Suitable for patients aged 5-14 years. The older the age, the narrower the passage should be. The game teaches concentration.
  • Snowflakes. This is a role-playing game in which children are divided into 2 groups: one plays the role of snowflakes, the second – the wind. The instructor is frosty. “Snowflakes” stand on their toes and move smoothly around the playroom. With the words “frost has come,” they kneel down and cover their heads with their hands. And when the instructor says “the summer breeze is blowing,” the guys get back on their feet and whirl in a dance of snowflakes.

All of the above games are necessarily supervised by adults. If there are children who cannot stand, they are helped to perform the necessary movements.

Developmental finger exercises in children with cerebral palsy

Particular attention is paid to the development of fine motor skills of the hands. To do this, use the following exercises:

  • Stretch your hand forward, clench your fingers into a fist and twirl your hand. Repeat 5-6 times.
  • Stretch your hand, squeeze all fingers except the middle and index. They need to be bent and unbent in turn. Repeat 6-7 times for each hand.
  • Press with your thumb on all other fingers until the child feels tired in his hand.

The number of repetitions increases with age. The child must do gymnastics of his own free will, he cannot be forced.

Of course, it is impossible to completely cure a child with cerebral palsy with the help of games. But they contribute to the improvement of his health and the development of thinking.
