The number of players is unlimited. Resources: texts of poems, paper, pen.
Objectives:
- Improve your acting and public speaking skills.
- Learn to convey different emotions regardless of the content of the text.
- Increase intonation expressiveness of speech.
This game is best played in a circle. Each player chooses a poem for himself (see possible selections here), after which everyone gets the task to read any quatrain with a certain given intonation.
Possible options for intonations: bright joy, universal sadness, mischief, sadness, interest, despondency, passion, curiosity, love, anger, irritation, despondency, indifference, arrogance, resentment, respect, admiration, malevolence, admiration, sweetness … — and others.
The rest of the players evaluate how well the player conveyed intonation. This is a workout. Then you can complicate: the player must read the verse as a certain character. The rest know what character they are going to play and give a common decision — excellent / similar, or else they need to “pull up” the role.
The game can be further complicated: for example, here is a variant of the game: «Guess the narrator.» Here the participants must read the poem in the role that fell to them. The book starts in a circle, and the person chooses a few quatrains of the work that he will now read. Then he pulls a piece of paper with a role. The task of the reader is to read the verse so that his character is guessed. The task of the listeners is to carefully monitor the speech and intonation of the interlocutor. After reading and discussing the role played, the book is transferred to another participant.
In this version of the game, you can add a system of points and rewards. For example, for a guessed passage, 4 points are given to the reader, and 1 point to the guessing listener.
The end of the game is a discussion of the most striking stories and roles. If you have entered a point system, then find the winner of the game, and the best reader is rewarded in any case!
