Furgainum is a drug used to treat acute and recurrent uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract. Its action is based on the active substance, which is furagin. How does Furaginum work? When to use Furaginum?

Furaginum – composition and action

The active substance of Furaginum is furaginum. Furagin is an organic chemical compound, a derivative of nitrofuran, and is used as an antibacterial drug. It is active against many strains of bacteria, both gram-positive and gram-negative, in the urinary tract that are responsible for causing urinary tract infections.

The mechanism of the bactericidal action of furaginus remains completely unclear. Probably, this drug is reduced in the bacterial cell to the form of metabolites that are toxic to this cell. These compounds, in turn, fragment the bacterial DNA. Furagin is well absorbed from the digestive tract.
