Fruit on a platter: beautiful cuts for buffets
For a beautiful display of fruit, large flat dishes – round, oval or rectangular – are suitable. Place the pineapple in the center of the composition, and lay the sliced fruits around in layers. Chop apples, pears and mango into thin slices, oranges and kiwi into circles, divide tangerines into wedges. Cut large strawberries several times and unfold them like a fan. The table will be very decorated with exotic fruits – lychee or carambola berries, cut into regular stars. The arrangement of the fruit can vary. Arrange them in circles, spirals or rays.
To prevent pears and apples from darkening, cut them just before serving and sprinkle with lemon juice
Fruits strung on skewers look no less elegant. Peel and neat cubes of apples, pears, kiwis, pineapples, bananas and peaches. Prepare the watermelon and melon pulp in the same way. String the fruit on long wooden skewers, alternating in color. Add strawberries or grapes. The skewers can be spread out on a platter or stuck in a watermelon or pineapple.
Sliced dishes can be decorated with original figurines. For their production, use fruits with dense pulp without damage. The easiest way to cut lilies is from apples or oranges. Using a sharp vegetable knife, cut the fruit in half in a zigzag motion. Divide the fruit in half and remove the seeds. Other round fruits such as tangerines, nectarines or large plums can be sliced in the same way. Put flowers of different sizes and shades on a dish in the form of a wreath or bouquet.
Fruit vases and baskets look very impressive. They will decorate a banquet or buffet table and become a convenient container for fruit salad. Use a round melon or small watermelon to make a vase. Wash the fruit thoroughly. Use a sharp knife to cut off the top and use a round spoon to select the pulp. The edge of the vase can be decorated with rounded scallops. To make them even, outline the drawing with a felt-tip pen, and only then start cutting.
Decorate the edge of the fruit vase with a hieroglyph. Cut out a paper stencil, place it on the side of the watermelon or melon, and outline the outlines with a felt-tip pen. Then peel off a thin layer of the skin with a sharp vegetable knife.
Try cutting a pineapple basket. Using a sharp knife, cut out the notches on the sides so that you get a handle. Don’t make it too thin so that it doesn’t break. Cut pineapple pulp and fill the container with fruit salad or ice cream.
