Some women hardly notice the onset of menstruation – for them, “these days” pass as easily as any others. But for most, menstruation is accompanied by quite severe pain in the abdomen. So strong that an ambulance may be required. Why it happens? And is it possible to fix this problem once and for all?
Modern medicine tells us that menstruation is not a pathology. This is a natural physiological process that should not cause a woman much discomfort. So, only light pulling sensations in the lower abdomen in the first hours are considered acceptable – but not days! – monthly.
Only if the body could say: “You shouldn’t feel anything right now, because menstruation is natural for us” …
What causes stomach pain?
It is simply impossible to independently diagnose the root cause of algomenorrhea (as doctors call painful menstruation). There are many, but there are only two of the most common.
- Inflammatory processes in the pelvic organs – the infection is easily diagnosed with a few tests, and, as a rule, it can be cured fairly quickly.
- Violation of the blood supply to the tissues of internal organs or displacement of these organs from their natural position.
With the second cause of pain, everything is much more complicated. To date, there is no equipment that can “explain” what and how in the body has shifted, where the vessels are clamped, where the usual stresses have arisen. These are such subtle violations that in modern gynecology they are considered a conditional norm and the doctor does not prescribe any treatment.
Why and where are the pelvic organs displaced?
Our body could be an “ideal machine”, in which everything works like clockwork. But with age, various changes occur – for example, a person begins to stoop from a sedentary lifestyle, posture changes not for the better. It would seem a trifle! But if the shoulders are hunched, then the neck is tense, and because of this, headaches can develop.
And if the posture changes, a person has habitual tensions in the pelvic area and “failures” occur there. We do not see these changes with the naked eye, but there are a lot of structures inside our body that can “move” (from the same sedentary lifestyle, injuries, asymmetrical load) and pull the pelvic organs into the wrong position.
Why is that bad? The position of the pelvic bones can affect the tension of the ligaments and lead to some movement of the internal organs. The tone of the muscles of the pelvic floor, the condition of the muscles of the abdomen, lower back, vagina also affect the state of the entire reproductive system.
These “disorders” and overstrains weaken the blood supply, and the body sounds the alarm: with pain in the abdomen, it tells us that something is wrong.
What will help with pain?
Most importantly, pain should never be endured! The stronger it is, the more actively the nervous system is stimulated, and this only increases the stress experienced by the body. Therefore, if you need to relieve pain, you should take antispasmodics. Of course, on doctor’s orders. And try the following drug-free methods.
warm bath
Water should be exactly warm, without essential oils. But aroma candles and aroma lamps with a relaxing effect are welcome. Take a bath for no more than 15 minutes and only if the bleeding is not severe and you definitely do not have inflammatory processes.
Dry Heat
To warm up, there are moxas – wormwood cigars, which must be kept at a distance of 10-15 cm above the lower abdomen. This will relax the smooth muscles of the uterus. In the absence of moxa, a regular heating pad will do.
Once again, we will clarify: warming up is contraindicated in inflammatory processes, so you can resort to it only in consultation with your doctor.
Prickly rug
You need to put any prickly rug under your lower back and lie down on it for at least 5 minutes. There is no maximum time – wait until you are completely relaxed.
Relaxation exercises
Within the framework of female Taoist practices, there is an exercise that allows you to quickly and effectively relax the stomach. It is performed as follows:
Lie down on the floor. Press your lower back to the floor, bend your knees. Place a book on your stomach (small, just to focus on it) and inhale, trying to lift it as high as possible. Try to relax as much as possible so that each time you take an even deeper and freer breath.
Having established such breathing, you can repeat this exercise while sitting. Sit Turkish on a chair and pillows, place your palm on your lower abdomen and repeat a relaxed breath, sticking out your stomach. 3-5 minutes are enough to feel relaxation and even some warmth in the area of pain.
How to painlessly survive the next menstruation?
Pain is a symptom that signals a problem. So, it can and should be dealt with.
If no inflammatory or more serious gynecological diseases are found, you can contact an osteopath for advice on the condition of the musculoskeletal system. Osteopathic procedures allow you to restore your posture, in which there will be no place for stress, various “pulling” and incorrect position of organs.
As a rule, osteopaths recommend doing relaxing exercises that will consolidate the result of their work or even restore the musculoskeletal system without additional procedures – for example, qigong for the spine Sing Shen Juang.
Another way to restore the blood supply to the internal organs is to work “from the inside” with the help of female Taoist practices, that is, through breathing exercises and practices with a stone egg. In addition to the fact that this complex enhances the pleasant sensations during sex, it aligns the ligamentous apparatus of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and surrounding organs.
Osteopathic procedures combined with qigong practices or Taoist practices will have a positive effect in the first month. If you regularly take care of the body, you can completely stop experiencing discomfort.
