Fringed tulip: varieties, photo

Fringed tulip is a medium-late flowering plant. This floral group was first discovered in Holland in 1930. Since then, there have been many varieties in the group that can be grown in the home garden.

This group was created based on the common tulips and Darwin’s tulips. All varieties of the group have inherited the best characteristics from their predecessors: strong stems, various bright colors, large sizes.

Fringed tulip cannot be confused with other flowers

Let’s divide all varieties into several subgroups:

  • Red varieties. All representatives reach 60 cm in height. The most beautiful representatives are Burgundy Lace, Fringed Apeldoorn, Crystal Beauty. Separately, I would like to highlight the Norada variety with its fiery shade of red and the Blue Heron variety with an unusual shade of purple.
  • Pink varieties. Most representatives grow up to 60 cm, but there are also lower varieties. The most famous representative of the subgroup is Fancy Frills. Also good are the light pink Belle Flower and the deep pink Crystal Glow. Standing apart is the almost white miniature Swan Wings. Its height is only 35 cm.
  • Two-tone varieties. Their size is from 30 to 50 cm. There are a wide variety of color combinations. A prominent representative of the subgroup is Madison Garden. Its crimson petals adorn the pale yellow edges.

The list contains the most popular representatives of each subgroup. There are many more of these tulips with a funny fringe.

Tulips are grown from bulbs. Remember that they cannot tolerate high humidity. Store the bulbs in a dry place.

Plant this tulips in the fall. Dig a hole about 20 cm deep. Put some sand on the bottom. Add compost and some bone meal to the excavated soil. Place a pot of soil in the hole. Plant several bulbs in it at a distance of 15 cm from each other. Dig in the pot with the prepared fertile mixture and tamp it well. Mulch the soil with a thick layer of foliage to keep the bulbs from freezing. Apply any compound fertilizer in the spring.

Planting with a pot is very comfortable. After flowering, simply remove the pot from the ground and place it in the shade.

Tulip care consists of watering, removing weeds and loosening the ground. Water the flowers in moderation until they wither.
