Some people think that there is no easy money. But it is unlikely that the heroes of this story will agree with this. Sometimes large sums “fall down” on us unexpectedly, and this does not mean at all that later we will have to pay exorbitant prices for such good luck.
In one of the US cities, young people decided to try their luck — they bought an old ATM, and it turned out that they did it for a reason! Friends recorded the whole process on video, which they later posted on TikTok.
The decommissioned machine for issuing money cost them 300 dollars (about 21.500 rubles). The guys bought it from a man who previously worked as an ATM operator. According to them, he just parted with the device because he himself did not have the keys to it. “Take it if you want. Whatever you find inside will be yours,” said the former owner of the ATM.
Opening the machine turned out to be really extremely difficult. To do this, the guys had to resort to the help of a crowbar, a hammer and even a drill. It was not difficult to disassemble the device itself, it was much more difficult to open a metal safe for storing money.
Fortunately, the operation was a success. When the safe door opened, the young people saw a large bundle of money — according to the guys’ calculations, about two thousand dollars (143 thousand rubles) were stored in the ATM. It turns out that they paid back the purchase of the machine more than six times.
Videos of the adventure of friends quickly became popular on TikTok. In total, they have collected almost 10 million views.
Cases when people find real treasures and become rich literally in one moment are not uncommon.
So, earlier lawyer lawyer David Whitcomb from New York acquired an old three-story building — he intended to place the office of his firm there.
When examining the premises on the top floor, he discovered that the entrance to the attic was visible above the false ceiling. It turned out that even the former owner of the house did not know about him. In the attic, a whole photography studio was hiding all this time, it remained untouched for at least a hundred years.
Whitcomb found hundreds of valuable items, including photographic plates and finished framed prints. Judging by the addresses on the surviving letters and parcels, they belonged to the photographer James Ellery Hale, who lived and worked in Geneva between 1892 and 1920.
“As one photo expert from Eastman Kodak put it, it’s like opening a tomb in Egypt that hasn’t been opened or looted yet, only in the field of photography,” David Whitcomb explained.
According to experts, the total value of the found items is about 100 thousand dollars (7,4 million rubles). Of particular value is the portrait of the famous suffragette Susan Anthony in 1905. At the same time, it was initially believed that only three original prints survived, but Whitcomb recently found a fourth. Its starting price at the auction is five thousand dollars (about 370 thousand rubles).
