Free sports in Moscow

Park, square, embankment, boulevard … These “fitness machines” work without holidays and weekends, around the clock and completely free. Summer sports grounds for keeping fit and fortitude – in the review from WDay.ru.

How to turn a park into a fitness club was demonstrated by Nike the day before. In the park “Krasnaya Presnya” a new autumn collection was presented NikeWomen – clothes and footwear for all weather conditions. Park paths instantly turned into treadmills, stair rungs and garden benches into exercise machines. Changing their casual clothes to sweatshirts, shorts and sneakers, the journalists held a training session in the fresh air, and at the same time tested the new items. It turned out great!

Sports improve your mood, and outdoor sports do even better. Study University of Essex (UK) found that outdoor walks improve mood and self-esteem more effectively through the action of natural (sunlight) light.

There are many parks and squares in Moscow. We will not talk about the most famous of them – you already know them perfectly well. In our review – little-known, but no less attractive parks of the capital, in which (the most important condition) you can conduct a rich fitness workout.

Bauman Garden

Where: st. Staraya Basmannaya, 15. Kurskaya metro station. Tel. (495) 261-58-83, (499) 265-11-05.

This is one of the quietest and most cozy places in Moscow. There are no attractions here. The main “feature” – cultural events that resemble the cinema of the 70s: concerts, performances of parodists and ensembles. The garden was formed in 1920 from several manor plots, including the Golitsyn one. Alleys with centuries-old trees and a grotto have been preserved from the old layout. There is a reading room, a chess and checkers club and a summer cinema with 850 seats in the garden.

Fitness: In the park named after the revolutionary Nikolai Bauman, you can pull off a real physical culture revolution! Beautiful arches and gazebos seem to be created in order to do exercises near them. And the old grotto (along which they walked Pushkin, Herzen и Turgenev) is suitable for entertaining archeology.

Tagansky park

Where: st. Taganskaya, 40-42. Metro “Taganskaya”, “Proletarskaya”. Tel. (495) 911-10-16.

The small park was created in 1934. Almost every square meter of the park breathes history. It was here that the sports career of the great football player and coach began Konstantin Beskov… Young Irina Rodnina immediately took to the ice there for the first time. Whether this fact will inspire you for sporting feats or not, the beginning singer Alla Pugacheva sang on the summer stage of the park. In addition, a 200-year-old oak grows in Tagansky Park – one of the oldest trees in the capital. Under the shade of poplars, American maples, lindens, there are numerous benches, two gazebos, a summer stage and the only fountain on Taganka.

Fitness: On the territory there is a sports campus for various competitions: a football field, a jumping pit, ropes, parallel bars and even two tennis courts. Morning jogging can be done around the stadium, and the equipment can be adapted for gymnastic exercises.

Manor “Uzkoe”

A beautiful manor house with a church built in the Moscow Baroque style is one of the most romantic places in the capital. Tyutchevskaya Alley runs through the estate from Sevastopolsky Avenue. “Narrow” is surrounded by Bitsevsky Park, to the west of it there are picturesque ponds. It was in Uzkoye that the great Russian philosopher Vladimir Soloviev died on July 31, 1900 after a two-week illness. The guests of the estate, which later turned into a sanatorium for members of the Academy of Sciences, at different times were Samuel Marshak, Boris Pasternak, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Osip Mandelstam и Kornei Chukovsky.

Fitness: Around the lakes – jogging, up and down hills – warm-up. The territory of the estate can be a great place for trekking – walking on hilly paths.

Mandelstam Park

A magnificent old park with an area of about 10 hectares with a pond, an orchard, beautiful flower gardens and even a mini-zoo. The manor house of the 18th century is an architectural monument. The property once belonged to Prince Vasily Golitsyn, after which it was inherited by Golitsyn’s grand-nephew Dmitry Trubetskoy. In 1826 he visited the estate Alexander Pushkin, who was returning from a festive celebration on Devichye Pole on the occasion of the coronation of Nicholas I. The park received its current name not in honor of the famous poet, but in honor of his little-known namesake, revolutionary Alexander Mandelstam.

The park has a football and basketball courts, two playgrounds for children. Ducks and swans live in the pond, and geese, chickens, roosters, pheasants and squirrels live in the open-air cages.

Fitness: The picturesque square is perfect for a Sunday run. And in the sports center, equipped with turnstiles, ladders and other equipment, you can do a glorious exercise.

Vitamin D shot

Today, the average person spends about 90 percent of their time indoors. Lack of sunlight can lead to a lack of vitamin D. It is this vitamin that helps prevent cancer, bone disease, depression and many other diseases. In addition, it promotes the reduction and control of insulin levels, which greatly facilitates the process of losing weight.

Where: Ivankovskoe shosse, 7. Metro Voykovskaya “,” Sokol “.

The giant park is mainly intended for a relaxing holiday. On the territory of 237 hectares, there are several ponds, in which once it was even possible to swim. The old estate in the park for 250 years belonged to the Streshnev family, who were considered ignorant nobles. However, everything changed after Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich married the daughter of the owner of the estate, Evdokia Streshneva, choosing a beauty after the show of brides. At the beginning of the 19th century, a village of 22 elite dachas was formed near the park. They lived in it at different times Nikolay Karamzin, Lev Tolstoy and the famous doctor Sergey Botkin.

In Pokrovsky-Streshnevo it is especially good and beautiful in summer. Mighty oaks, pines and larch trees grow in the park, and there is almost no annoying poplar fluff. One of the main attractions of the park is a spring with the purest spring water. Ducks and drakes swim in local ponds all year round.

Fitness: Instead of clumsy dumbbells, arm yourself with bottles of spring water and do a set of exercises to strengthen the muscles of the arms and abs.

Friendship Park

Where: st. Festivalnaya, 2. Rechnoy Vokzal metro station.

The park is beautiful because it is located by the Moskva River. This means that it is much easier to endure the summer heat there. Friendship Park is a traditional place for the flower garden festival. It is a pleasure to wander among the many cute flower beds with fancy flowers! There are many attractions and shooting galleries in the park. And for romantics there is a special program: a trip to the embankment, where you can watch the river liners passing by and dream about your journey.

Fitness: A teddy bunny, a huge cow or a bear – you will receive such a prize if you are the best shooter in the local shooting range.
