Fraud producers Like a lean bird

For several days, a video has been circulating on the web in which an anonymous employee “produces” a fleshy chicken. He turns a Cherlav bird into a good-looking art in seconds, injecting a mysterious substance intramuscularly.

What is injected into the meat?

Although the European Union has had more stringent chicken breeding standards for several years and heavy fines have been imposed on producers, prohibited practices are still frequently used. Some chickens available in stores are fattened with growth hormones. In addition to hormones, chicken farms overuse antibiotics, thanks to which chickens are resistant to infections and gain weight faster. The meat is also implanted with a protein that is a mixture of beef skin, hair, bones and tendons. Some breeders “graft” poultry with hydrolysed proteins – thanks to them, the meat does not lose water, is heavier and more plump.

Not only fake chickens

Unfortunately, meat is not the only “improved” product. Equally often in stores you can find fake olive oil, fish, organic products, milk, grains, honey, maple syrup, coffee, tea, spices, wine and fruit juices.

The European Commission regularly warns that fraudsters are on the rise in the food industry. Our weapon in this fight is to buy products from trusted, proven producers and expand our awareness. It is worth realizing that not everything that we can buy in promotions is good for our health. Even more so, when taking care of your figure, it is worth remembering the principle that “less is … more, and certainly healthier”.
