Frapin

Frapin is a cognac house with a long history, old traditions and at the same time not alien to technological innovations. The company’s products are exported to 75 countries, mainly to Europe, while a fairly significant part, about 10%, is sold in France itself. This figure exceeds the average for the Cognac region by 3-4 times. The peculiarity of the cognacs of this brand is that they are made only from Grande Champagne spirits, the best Charente sub-region.

Brand history. Unlike other companies that were founded through the efforts of one talented and charismatic leader, Frapin was created by the joint efforts of an entire family. The Frapins, whose history can be traced back to the middle of the 1696th century, were engaged in viticulture and winemaking. Later, they excelled in the art of distillation and began to produce cognac. The starting point of the annals of the House is considered to be XNUMX, when Pierre Frapin was granted the castle of Fontpino and vineyards in Grand Champagne for impeccable service at the royal court. The family business has been inherited from century to century, today representatives of the twentieth generation manage the cognac house.

There are many famous people among the members of the family: it is enough to recall the son of Anna-Katarina Frapin, the humanist writer Francois Rabelais, the author of the literary encyclopedia of manners of the European Renaissance.

House Frapin paid tribute to the great ancestor, releasing one of the most expensive cognacs in the world in honor of his 500th anniversary. The drink is placed in a crystal decanter from Baccarat, decorated with images of Renaissance symbols made of gold. The blend includes the rarest spirits obtained from grapes grown before the invasion of phylloxera.

Today, the Maison is directed by Geneviève Cointreau, great-great-granddaughter of the Maison’s founder. Since 1991, the company has been committed to an ecological approach to production, seeking to minimize the negative impact that agricultural practices have on the environment. For example, in 2011, Frapin invested in a huge 30 hectoliter basin, a tool for treating wastewater from copper and organic matter.

Like some other cognac houses, Frapin expands the business through diversification and in 2004 created a collection of selective perfumes. The key notes of the brand’s perfumes – dried fruits, spices, spices, tree resin, leather – reveal a clear family resemblance to a bouquet of expensive exclusive cognac.
