History of Frangelico
In its modern form, the liquor appeared only in the early 80s of the last century; Italian monks are considered its true creators.
First of all, we are talking about a certain hermit, brother Angelico (fra Angelico – ital.), Who lived in the XVII-XVIII centuries and devoted his free time to alcohol and pharmacy research.
Be that as it may, the story of an inquisitive schemer, which gained popularity with the light hand of the creators of the brand, the Barbero company, remains in demand even with the current liquor producer: the alcohol monster Gruppo Campari.
Composition and production of Frangelico
The composition of the Italian drink (of course, secret and unique), in addition to the aforementioned local Tonda Gentile hazelnuts, undoubtedly includes the following ingredients: grape spirit, cocoa beans, roasted coffee beans, vanilla, water and sugar.
Along with these ingredients released by the manufacturer, hints of bitter almonds, Ceylon cinnamon, wild berries, alpine herbs and orange blossom can be caught in the taste of the liquor.
The production of a drink includes several stages:
Infusion of a water-alcohol solution on finely crushed hazelnuts.
Distillation of the resulting infusion.
The introduction of vanilla extracts, coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, as well as herbal and berry essences.
Addition of water, pure alcohol, sugar and color.
Exposure in oak containers from one and a half to two months.
Pouring the finished liquor into bottles with a capacity of 375 and 750 ml, which not only resemble the figure of a monk in a cassock with a hoodie, but are also equipped with a monk’s rope girdle.
As a result of all these manipulations, a 20-degree brownish-golden drink is obtained, which has a pronounced chocolate-nutty taste and aroma, while containing about 40% sugar.
