Fracture of the scapula – treatment

It most often arises as a result of traffic accidents as a result of direct injury. There may be a fracture of the body, neck, acetabulum, and ravenous and brachial processes. It may be accompanied by a collarbone fracture, dislocation of the shoulder joint, paralysis of the axillary or suprascapular nerve.

Since the scapula is surrounded by a great deal of muscle mass, fractures are rarely displaced, except for those in the neck and appendages.

Treatment

As a rule, it is conservative in shaft fractures. The following are eligible for surgical treatment: displaced cervical fracture, displaced joint fracture and fractures of the appendages.

Conservative treatment is an imposition Desault’s dressing or triangular scarf until the symptoms subside.
