“You need to eat often, but little by little” – this phrase is repeated by advocates of diets and a healthy lifestyle, like a mantra. They are sure that eating 5-6 times a day in small portions accelerates and normalizes metabolism and allows the body to quickly expend the calories received, without putting them off for a rainy day. As in any other nutritional system, nutritionists see their positive and negative sides in fractional nutrition.
Diets like “an egg and coffee in the morning, two carrots for lunch, and nothing in the evening” still enjoy some popularity, but have long since begun to fade into the background. Now those who want to lose weight have begun to treat their body more responsibly, to study more of the necessary scientific literature, therefore, in most modern diets, such a concept as fractional nutrition appears.
Fractional nutrition improves blood circulation in the digestive organs and throughout the body as a whole, this has a beneficial effect on health and well-being
Fractional nutrition is also called the fashionable term grazing (from the English. To graze – “to graze”). The main idea of grazing is that during the day a person eats at least 5 times a day, but in small portions (the standard serving size is about 200 grams). Snacks are provided between larger meals. As a result, by consuming the amount of food necessary for the body as a whole, a person does not remain hungry. On the contrary, many of those who try fractional meals for the first time claim that so much food simply does not fit into them.
The main advantage of fractional nutrition for those who want to lose weight, of course, is the absence of a constant feeling of hunger, and therefore constant breakdowns, like emptying the refrigerator at night. In addition, many split diet diets do not have strict prohibitions on certain foods. So, for example, a sweet tooth may well afford a piece of chocolate in one of the snacks.
The absence of a constant feeling of hunger leads to a decrease in the total calorie content of food eaten per day
Having a snack an hour and a half before lunch, a person will eat much less at lunch than he would have eaten if he was hungry.
Adherents of fractional nutrition claim that it accelerates metabolism – the food eaten begins to be processed much faster, without being deposited as a dead weight in problem areas. Losing weight does not occur in sudden jumps, but smoothly, which is much less stress for the body.
Since the body is extremely dependent on the diet, from fractional nutrition every day at the same time, the daily regimen as a whole is normalized, therefore, you will get better sleep and feel better.
Of course, there are nutritionists who seek to completely refute all claims about the benefits of fractional nutrition. For example, some statistics are cited that indicate that neither a fractional meal, nor even a 36-hour fast does not affect the metabolic rate at all.
In addition, opponents of fractional nutrition argue that grazing disrupts hormonal metabolism that is habitual for the body and causes a serious blow to the liver and kidneys.
The transition to fractional meals does not mean that you can now eat absolutely everything. Harmful foods from the diet will have to be excluded in any case. Nuts, chips, chocolate, and sugary juices are bad snack options.
And a group of Dutch scientists who conducted an experiment with the absorption of chips are confident that it is from fractional nutrition that weight gain is carried out faster.
Is it worth switching to fractional meals
In fact, do not forget that each organism is unique. Indeed, for someone such a system may be categorically unsuitable, causing even greater problems with weight and health in general. However, the reviews of most people who switched to grazing still say the opposite. In addition, as with any diet, split meals should be approached wisely. If you want to lose weight, then fractional consumption of chips or hamburgers is unlikely to help you.
Try different split-feeding diets and choose one that not only allows you to lose weight, but can also become a permanent diet.
One in which there will be the required amount of nutrients. Listen carefully to your body and you can achieve the results you want.
