Irritation of the skin is expressed in its redness and dryness. It is caused by certain products that delicate skin does not tolerate well, such as soaps, shampoos, perfumes – highly concentrated and containing active ingredients. How to identify such funds? Here’s a dermatologist’s advice.
WHAT IS SKIN IRRITATION?
Skin irritation is very common and takes certain forms.
It is sometimes confused with an allergic reaction. Irritation rarely causes itching and usually extends slightly beyond the boundaries of the areas to which the remedy has been applied (with the exception of the eyelids). An irritating agent triggers an inflammatory reaction and disrupts the protective function of the skin. The result is a visible irritation of the skin, its tightness, tingling and sometimes slight itching are felt.
WHAT AREAS OF THE SKIN ARE MOST IRRITABLE?
It most often occurs on the face, eyelids and skin around the eyes,
on the back of the hands and fingers. Irritation can be acute – with redness, chronic, with patches of dry skin or cracks. On the palm and fingers, where the epidermis is thin, the skin may crack. Thin patches on the skin of the body can sometimes crack or peel.
WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
First of all – to refuse suspicious cosmetics.
If irritation occurs on the eyelids, I recommend that you stop using any cosmetic products. I recommend cleansing your face with a neutral lotion or thermal water. For body skin care, I suggest using cleansers that do not contain soap, or soap without surfactants. I also prescribe creams containing soothing, softening or healing molecules and UV filters to protect against solar radiation. In addition, the use of cortisone-based creams should be avoided.
