In our homes, moths come from storehouses and markets. Those insects fly from package to package, looking for loopholes and conveniently settling in stocks, multiplying rapidly. That is why it is very difficult to get the moth out of your kitchen.
Buy quality products
To prevent moths from entering your home, you should choose products from trusted brands. This is especially true for selected cereals, cereals, legumes, flour, mixtures of nuts, dried fruits, dry baked goods.
Do not take items with an expired expiration date. Do not choose cheap products, as the storage conditions for such products are violated.
Conduct an audit
General cleaning in the kitchen with a thorough review of products purchased for future use is a good prevention of moths. In expired products, food moths will settle much more readily, where they will begin to multiply.
Eliminate the source of the problem
You should definitely try to find a source of moth breeding – the so-called nest, where the larvae are laid. Sort foods carefully – cereals, nuts and dried fruits, flour, animal feed, cocoa, pasta and other bulk products.
The lumps in the cobweb in the food are the moth. It is hardly worth preserving such foods, but if they are dear to you, sort them out and place them in the oven at a high temperature. But it’s better to take all the packaging straight out into the street.
Use moth repellent
The surfaces of the premises should be treated with various moth repellents. Wipe all surfaces with soapy water and dry thoroughly – the moth loves a humid environment. Lubricate the joints and seams of furniture with a vinegar solution, and spread herbs in the corners of the cabinets, the aroma of which scares away food moths – rosemary, lavender, wormwood. For clothing, you can use ready-made moth sachets.
Store food correctly
Proper storage of food is the key to the success of the fight against moths. Observance of all precautions will significantly reduce the risk of moths in your kitchen or wardrobe. Transfer cereals from store-bought packaging to airtight containers.
