Food Guide in Spain

Food in Spain, Mercasa’s report on Production, Industry, Distribution and Consumption is now available.

For 18 years now, Mercasa has been preparing this report on an annual basis and it seems that it was only yesterday when, around the turn of the century, in 1998 it began to offer sectorial and product data to food professionals.

In this 2016 edition, it continues to contribute to improving knowledge of the Spanish food reality, through a yearbook that accumulates information, but is read and organized to facilitate quick consultation.

Food in Spain 2016 brings together all the available and most up-to-date statistical and documentary information on food production, industry, distribution and consumption in Spain, using in each case the most recognized and reliable statistical sources, public or private.

The different analyzes contained in the manual are segmented by Products, Sectors and Autonomous Communities, but it is worth highlighting in its introduction basic data of the food chain as well as the opinions of government institutions and sector organizations in a prologue format.

Food and Gastronomy in the productive sectors and the supply chain

Like any self-respecting manual or guide, your information must be perfectly segmented, and such is the case with this ebook.

Throughout its more than 500 pages we can sectoralize all food information from the economic, productive or supply chain or distribution.

The opinion of the food sector is led by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, Mrs. Isabel Garcia Tejerina, where we see an interesting medium-term horizon for our products and processes, in line with the growing demand for our products in international markets.

Food progress is the key highlighted by the Vice President of the State Society for Industrial Participations (SEPI) D. Federico Ferrer Delso as a true lever to ensure the future of our agricultural explorations and their developments in the food industry for the next decade.

The President of Mercasa himself, D. Eduardo Ameijide y Montenegro, delves into this concept of insurance, highlighting the very important role that has helped the economic consolidation of the country in the hands of the food sector.

Finally, the General Director of the Food Industry, Mr. Fernando José Burgaz Moreno, details how the importance of all the players in the supply chain is essential for the sector to continue showing signs of strength, laying the foundations from the beginning of it in the figure of the farmers themselves.
