General description of the disease

 

Flatulence is a disease characterized by increased formation or insufficient removal of gases from the intestines, which leads to their excessive accumulation. Usually, gases in the gastrointestinal tract are formed as a result of swallowing air or neutralizing heartburn with soda, their volume depends on age and nutrition.

Types and causes of flatulence

  • flatulence in violation of the digestive process (for example, with dysbiosis);
  • alimentary flatulence develops when eating foods with a lot of fiber and starch (for example, if the diet includes legumes, potatoes, cabbage, black bread, etc.);
  • mechanical flatulence occurs as a result of the presence of mechanical obstacles in the intestine (for example, a tumor);
  • circulatory flatulence is caused by impaired blood circulation (for example, with varicose bowel disease);
  • dynamic flatulence develops when intestinal functions are dysfunctional, usually due to infectious diseases;
  • psychogenic flatulence can occur with mental abnormalities (hysteria).

Symptoms of flatulence

a feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, its “bloating”, aching pain, attacks of gas colic, which subside after frequent and noisy discharge of gas, nausea, belching, gas retention, diarrhea or constipation, loss of appetite, bad taste in the mouth or odor from it, burning sensation in the region of the heart or interruptions in its work, muscle pain, headaches, anxiety, sleep disturbances, general weakness, depressed mood, weakness, shortness of breath.

Useful foods for flatulence

With flatulence, it is advisable to cook dishes using a double boiler, stew or boil. Food should be taken warm, as too cold or hot dishes can provoke the development of flatulence, and in small portions up to six times a day. The diet should include foods that do not provoke the formation of gas in the intestines or contribute to their reduction. These include:

  • carrots, beets, pumpkin;
  • lean meat, poultry (chicken, turkey) and low-fat fish;
  • natural pates;
  • steam omelet or soft-boiled eggs;
  • vegetable soups;
  • dried wheat bread;
  • green tea, weak coffee, cocoa;
  • natural fresh juices (lemon, orange, apple);
  • dairy products;
  • greenery;
  • prunes, apricots, pomegranates;
  • cereals (various types, except for millet and pearl barley);
  • mineral or purified water without gas (about two liters per day).

Sample menu for flatulence:

Early breakfast: green tea with rice porridge.

Late breakfast: cottage cheese with sour cream.

Dinner: vegetable soup, boiled chicken, bread, beet salad, compote.

Afternoon snack: crackers, jelly.

Dinner: buckwheat porridge, steamed cutlets, carrot salad.

 

Traditional medicine for flatulence

  • decoction of parsley seeds (pour a tablespoon of seeds with a glass of cold water, heat for half an hour in a water bath) take in the amount of a tablespoon at least 5 times a day;
  • infusion of dandelion root (two teaspoons of dandelion root (chopped) in a glass of cold boiled water, leave for eight hours), take 50 milliliters four times a day before meals;
  • carrot seed powder, take a teaspoon 3 times a day;
  • infusion of dill seeds (a tablespoon of chopped dill seeds for one and a half cups of boiling water, insist in a closed vessel for three hours) take half a glass three times a couple of hours a day before meals;
  • chamomile infusion (pour a tablespoon of dried chamomile flowers with a glass of boiling water, boil for five minutes, leave for four hours, filter) take two tablespoons four times a day before meals;
  • dill oil (dilute oil with water (ratio 1:10), take a tablespoon three to six times a day;
  • herbal infusion of rowan fruits (4 parts), mint leaves (3 parts), dill seeds (3 parts), valerian root (2 parts) (one tablespoon of herbs in a glass of boiling water, leave for an hour, strain), use 100 ml each twice a day;
  • mint infusion (two tablespoons of leaves for two cups of boiling water, leave for twenty minutes, filter) take in the amount of one glass before meals for 20 minutes three times a day;
  • wormwood infusion (pour a teaspoon of herbs with a glass of boiling water, leave for half an hour), use one spoonful three times a day a quarter of an hour before meals;
  • an infusion of eucalyptus leaves should be taken on an empty stomach three glasses a day.

Dangerous and harmful foods for flatulence

exotic dishes, spices, grapes, bananas, raisins, cabbage, legumes (beans, peas, beans, chickpeas), radish, nuts, pears, fatty and salted fish, carbonated drinks, fatty meat, rye bread, fresh baked goods, pearl barley , hard boiled eggs, cream, whole milk, ice cream, smoked foods, millet groats, fried foods, sugar substitutes (sorbitol, aspartame).
