This is an acute reaction of the immune system to an allergen (a specific substance or their combination), which is common for other people. For example, animal dander, dust, food, medicines, insect bites, chemicals and pollen, certain medicines. With allergies, an immunological conflict arises – during a person’s interaction with an allergen, the body produces antibodies that increase or decrease sensitivity to an irritant.
Factors provoking the occurrence:
genetic predisposition, low level of ecology, stress, self-medication and uncontrolled intake of drugs, dysbiosis, underdeveloped immune system of children (a high level of sanitation excludes the production of antibodies by the child’s body for “good antigens”).
Types of allergies and their symptoms:
- Respiratory allergy – the effect of allergens that are present in the air (wool and dander of animals, plant pollen, mold spores, dust mite particles, other allergens) on the respiratory system. Symptoms: sneezing, wheezing in the lungs, nasal discharge, choking, watery eyes, itchy eyes. Subspecies: allergic conjunctivitis, hay fever, bronchial asthma, and allergic rhinitis.
Allergic dermatoses – exposure to allergens (metal and latex allergens, cosmetics and medicines, food products, household chemicals) directly on the skin or through the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal system. Symptoms: redness and itching of the skin, hives (blisters, swelling, feeling of heat), eczema (increased dryness, flaking, changes in skin texture). Subspecies: exudative diathesis (atopic dermatitis), contact dermatitis, hives, eczema.
alimentary allergy – the effect of food allergens on the human body when eating or preparing food. Symptoms: nausea, abdominal pain, eczema, Quincke’s edema, migraine, urticaria, anaphylactic shock.
Insect allergy – exposure to allergens during insect bites (wasps, bees, hornets), inhalation of their particles (bronchial asthma), consumption of their waste products. Symptoms: skin redness and itching, dizziness, weakness, choking, decreased pressure, urticaria, laryngeal edema, abdominal pain, vomiting, anaphylactic shock.
Drug allergy – occurs as a result of taking medications (antibiotics, sulfonamides, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hormonal and enzyme drugs, serum preparations, X-ray contrast agents, vitamins, local anesthetics). Symptoms: slight itching, asthma attacks, severe damage to internal organs, skin, anaphylactic shock.
Infectious allergy – occurs as a result of exposure to non-pathogenic or opportunistic microbes and is associated with dysbiosis of the mucous membranes.
In case of exacerbations of all types of allergies, it is necessary to adhere to a hypoallergenic diet. This is especially important for food allergies – the diet will perform both a therapeutic function and a diagnostic one (excluding certain foods from the diet, you can determine the range of food allergens).
