Flowers of youth

Every month we study in detail one of the new products, which seemed to us the most interesting. This time we tested the face cream Divine Immortelle, L’Occitane.

Lavender and almond from the Alpine region of Haute-Provence, cherry from the Luberon, angelica and verbena from Drôme – the Provencal brand L’Occitane creates cosmetics only on the basis of Mediterranean plants. “We work with what grows literally under our feet. Therefore, we have the opportunity to study plants in their natural environment, says company founder Olivier Baussan. – Plants that surprise with something deserve special attention: as a rule, they have special properties. For example, the immortelle, which does not change outwardly even years after it has been plucked. It turned out that it really contains a special substance of longevity. Based on immortelle, L’Occitane created two anti-aging lines. In 2002, Précieuse Immortelle was launched for skin over 30, and in 2011, Divine Immortelle for those over 50. This fall, its composition has been updated, becoming even more effective.

Operating principle

The essential oil, which is obtained from immortelle flowers, contains neryl acetate, a substance that stimulates cell renewal. Usually its concentration does not exceed 15%. But in the immortelle from the island of Corsica (which is what L’Occitane uses), the concentration of neryl acetate reaches 50%. Divine Immortelle also contains Corsican myrtle essential oil. Together, these components stimulate the production of sirtuin, the “longevity protein”, which increases the lifespan of skin cells.

More benefits

In September of this year, the composition of Divine Immortelle products was enriched with a new complex. It includes honey, swamp clover, daisy, hyaluronic acid, camelina and evening primrose oils. Together and individually, they fight the main cause of aging – damage to the DNA of cells.

Feature of application

It is worth using Divine Immortelle after 50 years. Prior to this, the creators recommend using the funds in courses: for example, during the change of seasons. The combination of cream and serum gives the maximum effect.

Promised effect

The updated line eliminates dryness, improves skin tone and elasticity, smoothes fine lines and reduces deep wrinkles, brightens pigmentation and improves complexion*. It includes Divine Lotion Tonic, Divine Extract Serum, Divine Cream and Divine Eyes Eye Balm.

We chose cream for examination. The design of the jar was developed by Olivier Bossan on the model of ancient pharmaceutical vessels.

* After six months of using the products, 85% of women noted a decrease in age spots, 27% – an increase in skin elasticity, especially in the neck and chin area, 21% appreciated the smoothing of wrinkles, especially crow’s feet. The study was conducted by L’Occitane on the basis of the Marseille clinic with the participation of 100 women.

Personal opinion

Our proofreader Elena Malygina tested the updated Divine Immortelle cream for a month and a half.

First impression:

“I am a supporter of natural cosmetics, and I love L’Occitane especially: for its exquisite and at the same time “homemade” bottles. I really liked the cozy juicy yellow jar! Inside was a creamy white cream with a pungent smell of immortelle. The fragrance reminded me of my childhood: the rocky slopes next to my parents’ dacha in Kiev turned yellow every summer because of these flowers.”

Usage:

“Although I applied the cream in a thin layer, the skin shone in the first half hour. I forgot that the description of massage techniques is attached to the package. Only a week later, when I discovered it, everything fell into place. Now the cream is absorbed in just a minute.

Result:

“Repair, daughter’s session and delivery of a special issue of Understanding Men – my summer began stormily. Therefore, I didn’t really look into the mirror, I noticed a refreshed face and tightened skin only after a month. Nasolabial folds, of course, have not disappeared – only a filler will help here. But the skin seemed to glow with pleasure. Although I haven’t been on vacation yet!”
