Flower pot decor: DIY patchwork

Flower pot decor: DIY patchwork

Even an ordinary flower pot can be decorated using the patchwork technique, without the need for a sewing machine! See a detailed master class with photos.

To decorate a flower pot using the fashionable patchwork technique, we need any pieces of fabric and decoupage glue.

For work are required:

– plastic pots,

– tissue flaps,

– satin ribbon,

– green acrylic paint in a spray bottle,

– brushes,

– decoupage glue,

– pencil,

– ruler.

We glue the surface of the pot with colored patches

The entire plastic planter is painted green by spraying an acrylic compound from a spray bottle.

Allow the paint to dry.

The available multi-colored rags (it is good if they contain shades of green) are cut into squares and rectangles of arbitrary sizes.

A simple pencil and ruler are useful for this.

The surface of the pots is coated with decoupage glue, after which squares and rectangles of fabric are fixed on it.

We frame the decor with a ribbon

Along the lower edge of the resulting collage, a satin ribbon is glued to the same composition.

It can be green or contrasting (for example, pink, yellow, or blue).

You can also use the braid around the edges of the shreds.

In this case, the braid can be either ordinary smooth or wavy, in the assembly.

This will give the pot an even more intricate and original look.

You can decorate the pot along the top edge with a fluffy bow or fringe, start up an elegant lace.

We process the surface with decoupage glue

Then the resulting “collage” is covered with another layer of decoupage glue.

This will allow the flaps to be tighter to the surface and you will be sure that the edges of the flaps will not be split.

After the decoupage glue dries, it will become invisible.

In the same way, you can create a collage of shreds and on a flat surface.

To do this, you need to cover thick cardboard with fabric, then lay out a pattern from various pieces of fabric and braid and frame your painting with lace or ribbon. Details >>
