In adulthood, the flour beetle reaches a length of three and a half centimeters. Its flat body is covered with a brown chitinous carapace, which provides reliable protection.

Where does the small flour beetle come from?

Beetle larvae are small, up to 7 mm, but extremely voracious. Cases were recorded when they penetrated not only plastic bags with food, but even gnawed through tarpaulin and plastic barriers. In the process of growth, the larva molts several times until after about two months it turns into a pupa. All terms depend on the temperature and humidity in the room.

The small Khrushchak prefers to live in granaries, in the warehouses of factories that produce pasta and cereals. He eats these products, penetrating into packages through the smallest holes. The bug’s eggs are securely attached to any surface due to the sticky mucus that covers them.

This ensures the safety of the masonry and gives the pests the ability to move over great distances.

The flour beetle in the apartment feels great. He usually prefers a kitchen, where a variety of products are stored in cupboards. He especially likes stale cereals, so the beetle habitat is often found in the most inaccessible place, on a shelf, where they have not looked for a long time, but left a pack of something tasty.

The small beetle eats food and lays its eggs in them. The larvae that appear continue to spoil stocks until people detect their presence. How to get rid of the problem that has arisen?

How to get rid of flour beetle

The success of the event lies in decisiveness. The task is to destroy all pests, and for this it is necessary to ruthlessly get rid of all the stocks in which they have settled. Do not spare stocks; it is better to make this sacrifice once than a month later again to observe disgusting bugs traveling through the kitchen.

The next step is to thoroughly wash all cabinets and shelves. Pests do not tolerate the smell of baking soda and vinegar, so they are unlikely to return if you wipe them all surfaces, including window sills and baseboards.

Dishes that have come into contact with contaminated foods must be boiled.

The flour beetle is a pest that must be eliminated mercilessly. If you do not do this in time, it will spread throughout the apartment, then it will become much more difficult to cope with it.
