Floristic compositions of flowers and fruits

Floristic compositions often look more interesting than bouquets and give more opportunities for imagination. We invite you to design an original decorative basket using hyacinths and lemons under the guidance of an experienced florist.

For work, we need:

– 7 purple hyacinths,

– cardilina leaves (small aspidistra can be used),

– bergras,

– floristic aluminum wire (lilac color), thin wire,

– plastic stand,

– floristic sponge piaflor,

– rectangle made of cardboard 45-50×10 cm in size,

– large purple beads,

– lemons, pears,

– double-sided tape, stapler,

– knife, scissors, secateurs.

1. Glue strips of scotch tape to the leaves of the cardilina

To decorate our future basket, we need large leaves.

We use cardilina leaves, although smaller aspidistra may well replace it.

Cut off the petioles from the leaves of the cardilina.

Glue a strip of double-sided tape along the inner surface of the sheet, as shown in the photo.

Now we make the frame of our future basket from cardboard.

2. We decorate the basket with leaves

We make the basis of our future basket.

To do this, bend a piece of cardboard into a ring with a diameter of about 20 cm and fix it with a stapler.

Now we take the already prepared cardilina leaves (with double-sided tape glued on) and glue them over our cardboard frame, overlapping them slightly.

Bend the leaves located near the upper edge inward.

We should have a green basket braided with leaves.

3. Place the basket on the stand

Cut off the necessary part of the piaflor sponge, the size corresponding to the capacity of the plastic stand.

Soak the sponge in water. (Do not forget that you cannot “heat” it: the material must submerge itself in the water, otherwise it will be saturated with water unevenly.)

Then we put the wet sponge in the stand and put our cardboard ring decorated with leaves on top.

The basket for the future composition is ready.

We begin to form the composition.

We bend the brightest leaves of the cardilina twice, fix them with a stapler at the ends and insert them into a wet sponge.

Cut the stems of purple hyacinths at different levels and insert them into the basket (the stems should fit tightly into the sponge).

Take a small bunch of bergrass leaves. Their rigid bases will easily stick into the sponge. Then we bend the bunch and attach the ends of the blades of grass to the sponge using a wire staple. It turns out a beautiful arc of thin leaves – it will beautifully complement the composition.

5. Decorating the outside of the basket

The leaves on the frame of our composition look a little gloomy.

Let’s revive them with the help of a woven “string” made of bergrass threads.

To do this, we fold three threads and weave them with a long fourth, as shown in the photo.

We attach the ends of the improvised “string” to the cardboard using rigid wire brackets or to the leaves with a thin wire.

Our green basket has got a kind of decorative handle.

It remains to add fruits and beads to the composition.

6. Supplement the composition with lemon halves and beads

Cut the lemons into halves and place them on the side of our composition.

(You can use limes or other yellow-green fruits that will just as well fit into the color scheme of our composition.)

The pear can be put whole.

Cut off the lower parts of the bergrass leaves and insert this “bristle” upright into the composition in the least filled places.

Add purple beads to the basket.

We cut off several pieces of aluminum wire, spirally curl them, put them on the ends along a purple bead, and insert them into the composition.

That’s it, our work is complete!

Isn’t it true that such a decoration can revive the familiar interior and become that bright color spot that attracts the eye!

Moreover, hyacinths smell amazing, so that the room in which your flower decoration will be located will soon be filled with a wonderful fragrance.
