The florarium is becoming an increasingly popular design element. This is a composition made up of various elements, including various types of plants, mosses, dried flowers, stones, shells, and other decorative elements, and placed in a glass vase.
Florarium – a composition of plants
The shape and size of florarium (florarium) are very diverse. Florarium can be desktop, floor, wall. The composition of the florarium provides rich opportunities for creativity and allows you to realize any design fantasies within a single vase.
The main question that must be answered before starting work on the composition: will it be alive, that is, include live plants that require additional care, or dry? The second question will be the future location of the florarium, it is fundamentally important for the formation of the composition. If you plan to put a vase against the wall, then the composition itself is arranged in steps, but if the florarium will stand in an open space (for example, on a table), the composition should be evenly viewed and look great from all sides.
The florarium is primarily an artistic composition. Therefore, she must have a certain semantic accent: a stone composition, a bright shell, a figurine or other expressive element.
Further, having picked up a vase suitable for the interior, you can start working on creating a florarium. All decorative elements must be disinfected: warmed up or treated with a disinfectant solution. This is required so that microorganisms do not begin to develop in a confined space.
If the florarium is alive, you can either fill the vase itself with soil in which the plants will be planted, or, more conveniently, place each plant in a pot, and then place it in a vase. The second option is more convenient to care for, it is possible to replace the plant if it loses its attractive appearance.
The remaining space is filled with moss, after which it is decorated with decorative elements: stones, twigs, shells, decorative balls, rhinestones. To make it easier to work, you can draw a composition or see photos of already completed florariums. Do not neglect the video tutorials or master classes that are on the worldwide network, they will demonstrate the sequence of working with materials, and also tell you about the peculiarities of the combination of colors, textures, shapes.
Do not try to put all the beautiful elements that are available in one florarium. Don’t oversaturate the composition. It is better to make several small compositions than one overloaded one.
Dry florarium is no less interesting. It can accommodate a whole landscape or a scene from the life of fairy-tale characters. It does not require special care, but for a living one, certain rules must be followed:
– plants in a vase require sunlight, at least in limited quantities; – it is necessary to ensure watering of the plants in accordance with their needs; – when choosing plants, it is necessary to choose plants that are compatible with the need for moisture, light and heat, otherwise living together in the same florarium will not be comfortable for them.
