When the flowers on the windowsill become crowded, you have to look for other possibilities. The most convenient option is a floor stand for flowers. There are under any number of flowerpots, for large and small plants, for ampelous and climbing.
Types of floor stands
Flower stands can be stationary and mobile. The mobile furniture wheels are attached to the base or racks. Low mobile stands are convenient for large flowers. The plant is easier to care for, easier and cleaning. There are very low ones – for plants above a meter, there are two-tier ones – for those that have not yet grown to a meter. In any case, for large plants, this type of stands is convenient. This type is sometimes called a flower pedestal.
There are also high mobile shelves or shelves for flowers. The number of wheels is at least four, but five is better. Not because the weight can be large, but because when moving a tall structure on five wheels, there is less chance of turning it over. In any model, regardless of height, the wheels are more convenient to swivel.
By location
There are also the usual flower stands that stand against the wall or in the middle of the room. They can also be called straight or wall-mounted. They can be flat and wide, more like a bookcase, or they can be a collection of flower pot stands located at different heights. They told about single-tier ones, and shelves for flowers can also be located on two, three or more levels.
There are corner models. They don’t have to be in the corner of the room. You can put it near the cabinet, which is located at a distance of 50-60 cm from the doorway. The place is difficult to use in a different way, and the flower stand becomes good.

Only for window options, the bar is usually one, and for those that go to the entire height of the room, they make the base of several racks. But in this case, you need to make sure that the latch is reliable – if a flower pot falls from a height of two meters, it will not seem enough. The second point is the ease of attachment. Usually it is on clips or screws. Clamps move shelves faster, but they are less secure. Screws take longer to fiddle with and need a screwdriver. But you can tighten as needed.
What materials are they made from
The human imagination is amazing. From completely banal things they make unusual ones. Or, conversely, materials that seem unacceptable for this type of product are used. And what is interesting is that they are even better than the usual ones.
Metal
The floor shelf for flowers can be made of metal – forged or welded. Forging is not the easiest craft, so forged coasters can either be bought ready-made or ordered in a workshop to fit your dimensions or according to your sketch. This, of course, is good, but not cheap. There is such a type of work with metal as cold forging. With the help of a pipe bender and some other devices, you can do interesting things. This is a do-it-yourself option. But the fragments will need to be connected in some way. Most often, welding is used for this. If you can, great. Lots of options. You can find options from a profile pipe. Those who know how to weld metal can weld a base from a profile pipe, and flower pot stands from a bar. There are very interesting models of metal flower stands in a modern style.
It is possible, as in the photo, to use stainless steel pipes. Such a pedestal for flowers will fit into a modern style. There are spray paints that can give an interesting effect. If you “age” the paint, you can put it in a loft-style room. If you apply paint with a metallic effect, you can fit into high-tech and other techno trends.
Whatever one may say, when working with metal, welding is needed. Welding machines in the private sector today are not so rare. But not everyone has. In principle, some materials can be dispensed with without welding.
If there are remnants of copper tubes, you can make a stand for flowers and from them. Copper can be bent, and where that doesn’t work, soldering is required. But since tightness is not needed in this design, glue can be used. If you know how to cut threads, you can assemble from old water pipes using fittings.
Wood
An equally common option is a wooden floor stand for flowers. Often there is one or more racks on one stand. Shelves are attached to the racks, on which flowerpots are placed. On one rack there can be only one stand, and maybe several. Often they are directed in different directions.
There are “classic” options, more like whatnots. They can be assembled from varnished or painted wooden planks. The height, number and size of levels all vary.
In general, a pretty handy thing if there is enough free space. If desired, for lower levels, you can make a backlight. Such whatnots are good for seedlings, if it has to be grown not in a technical room. They look good and make it easy to take care of the plants.
From wood, you can make a flower stand in the form of a ladder. Moreover, the ladder can take up little space if the steps are directed along the wall. The option on the right, by the way, is made up of two corner shelves. In this form, it is more convenient to make them – more reliable support. The option on the left is not only for flowers, but also for decorative things.
A floor stand is often needed on a balcony or loggia. If there is a free wall, you can make it full width. Here, again, it is more convenient to use wood.
You can make a design from small wooden boxes. They can be twisted together with self-tapping screws – wall to wall, or with the help of planks. Then you can come up with more combinations.
In general, wood is a very good material for independent work. It is simple, especially if the design is not too complicated. Nails or screws are not a problem even for those who are not too experienced.
Combinations
If relations with wood and metal do not work out, you can use materials that are used in the manufacture of furniture. Furniture round tube with various fastenings and laminated chipboard or MDF. It is these options that are popular among DIYers. Buying a pipe is not a problem. It is round, square, rectangular. Each option with a different wall thickness, different size / diameter. There are nickel-plated, there are colored. The pipe is sawn with an ordinary hacksaw for metal into segments of the desired length. It is attached to the shelves with special flanges. There are also tees, crosses, shelf holders, etc. A set of accessories – for any request and any design. To assemble, you need a drill and a screwdriver or screwdriver. Drill – pre-drill holes for installing fasteners, a screwdriver or screwdriver – for installing self-tapping screws.
As stands for flowerpots, shelves are attached to the pipe, which are most often cut out of laminated furniture chipboard. It is also quite possible to cut them out yourself, then stick the end edge tape. If you don’t feel like messing around, you can order cutting and edging in the furniture workshop. It is quite inexpensive. And assembly is up to you.
Less common are baskets for placing glass pots. The glass is thick and multi-layered. In terms of operation, it will be more reliable than laminated chipboard, less capricious than wood. But you need to know how to work with glass. You need to make a special frame or seat. Although, you can just glue on top. But edge grinding is easier to order in a glass workshop.
Glass can be colored or white, frosted or transparent. Patterned is better not to use – it will be more difficult to clean. In principle, it may not be glass, but a transparent monolithic polycarbonate. The sheets are available in different thicknesses.
Unusual forms
From the most ordinary materials, extraordinary things can be made. The flower stand is no exception. For example, a stand-stand on which you can put pots and hang flowerpots with ampelous plants. Just? Yes. But only after seeing the picture.
Or shelving in the shape of the letter “A”. Sturdy construction, easy to carry out. It can be made in several versions. Shelves, by the way, can be all the same length, made according to the size of the base (as in the photo) or have their own characteristics – “protrude” beyond the frame to different lengths.
You can make the floor flower bed symmetrical. It can consist of two halves, mirrored. Like the photo on the right. And it looks good against the wall. And on the sides of the passage or door will be even more interesting.
Modern flower stands
Recently popular interiors are increasingly striving for geometrically simple and concise forms. And we like them for their simplicity. But not everyone is ready to give up plants. The good news is that even in the laconic styles of “techno” directions, plants can be entered. Their form should also be concise and strict. Like the floor stand. See for yourself.
