Flixonase is a drug used in allergy and family medicine to prevent and treat rhinitis. The preparation affects the respiratory system and has anti-inflammatory properties. Flixonase is available as a nasal spray and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Indications for the use of Flixonase

The active substance in Flixonase is fluticasone, which is used to treat allergic rhinitis. The preparation is indicated for the prevention and treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

Dosage of Flixonase

In order to obtain an effective therapeutic effect, the preparation should be used regularly, according to the dosing schedule. The full effect of the preparation usually occurs after 3–4 days. days of its regular use. The duration of the treatment will be determined by your doctor.

Adults and children over 12 years of age:

  1. Initially two doses in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning (total daily dose 200 µg). In some situations your doctor may recommend two doses in each nostril twice a day (total daily dose 400 µg). Do not use more than four doses in each nostril a day.
  2. Always aim for the lowest dose of Flixonase that provides effective control of your symptoms. If your symptoms are well controlled, your doctor may recommend a dose reduction.
  3. No dosage adjustment is necessary for the elderly.

Children 4-11 years old age:

  1. Initially one dose in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning (total daily dose 100 µg). In some situations your doctor may recommend one dose in each nostril twice a day (total daily dose 200 µg). Do not use more than two doses in each nostril a day.
  2. Always aim for the lowest dose that provides effective symptom control. If your symptoms are well controlled, your doctor may recommend a dose reduction.

Flixonase and contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the preparation is a contraindication to the use of Flixonase.
