  1. during preparation for radiological or endoscopic examination of the large intestine,
  2. when preparing for colon surgery (bowel cleansing).

Dosage

Fleet Phospho Soda is a medicine in the form of an oral solution. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the preparation.

  1. Adults and children over 15 years of age. The contents of one bottle of the drug (45 ml) should be mixed with 1/2 glass (120 ml) of cold water, the resulting solution should be drunk with at least 1 full glass (240 ml) of cold water. 2. use in the case of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain,
  3. use in patients with congestive heart failure,
  4. clinically significant renal failure,
  5. ascites,
  6. recognized or suspected obstruction within the gastrointestinal tract,
  7. congenital or acquired colon enlargement,
  8. perforation in the gastrointestinal tract,
  9. bowel obstruction,
  10. active phase of inflammatory bowel disease,

Fleet Phospho Soda – warnings

  1. If no bowel movement occurs within 6 hours of taking the drug, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted (risk of dehydration).
  2. Elderly patients are exposed to potentially lethal electrolyte hazards.
  3. People at increased risk should consult a physician before using the drug, who will assess the potential risks and benefits.
  4. People with heart disease, increased risk of kidney problems, acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, increased risk of electrolyte disturbances (e.g. in case of dehydration, gastric retention, colitis, inability to drink enough fluids orally, high blood pressure, taking medications) that may cause dehydration or if electrolyte disturbances have occurred in the past) and debilitated or elderly people should consult a doctor before taking the drug and exercise particular caution.
  5. Caution should be exercised in those on a low-salt diet, in those with colostomy or ileostomy, due to the risk of electrolyte, acid-base imbalance or dehydration.
  6. The body should be hydrated while taking the drug.
  7. Insufficient hydration of the body during treatment may lead to dehydration and hypovolemia (too little blood in relation to the capacity of the vessels), which may lead to acute renal failure.
  8. People taking sodium phosphate to cleanse their intestines are at risk of developing nephrocalcinosis associated with kidney failure. This situation may especially apply to elderly women taking medications that may cause dehydration (e.g. antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
  9. Patients predisposed to dehydration or taking drugs that reduce the glomerular filtration rate (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers) should consult a physician before use. He will assess the body’s hydration status and advise on the appropriate course of action.
  10. Endoscopic examination rarely revealed aphthous changes in the recto-sigmoid segment of the intestine that resolve on their own.
  11. Changes in the ECG may occur during the treatment, e.g. prolongation of the QT interval, which is the result of electrolyte imbalance.
  12. There is no information on the safety of the preparation in pregnant women. Do not use it without consulting a doctor who deems it necessary.

Fleet Phospho Soda with other medications

  1. Consult your doctor for the simultaneous use of drugs that: locate the calcium channel, diuretics, reduce the glomerular filtration rate, other drugs that may affect the concentration of electrolytes or lithium. These preparations may increase the risk of hyperphosphataemia, hypernatraemia, hypocalcaemia, hypokalaemia, dehydration or acidosis.
  2. While taking Fleet Phospho Soda, the absorption of other preparations from the gastrointestinal tract may be delayed or prevented. The effectiveness of the use of oral drugs: antiepileptic, antidiabetic, antibiotics, contraceptive drugs may be canceled.
  3. Concomitant use of other sodium phosphate preparations is not recommended.
  4. Caution should be exercised in patients taking drugs that prolong the QT interval.
