Flairing – the modern technique of the bartender, in translation means “flying”, “rotating”. The technique is akin to juggling art, where the bartender acts as a juggler. It is worth noting that juggling is not limited to bottles only: it can be glasses, ice and other items that the bartender needs to implement his ideas, as well as pouring liquid.
These days, flaring is a very popular technique, and is quite in demand in bars, nightclubs and other entertainment venues. There are individual and stage competitions in flairingra between eminent bartenders from all over the world. Participants in such competitions receive serious awards, reputation and job offers.
Flaming is divided into two areas:
Working flair – implies a real flairing technique when working at the bar, the use of bar equipment and bottles, regardless of their shape and content.
Show flair – free style, in which you can prepare all the tools and ingredients in advance, choosing the volume of liquid in the bottles and their shape as you wish. The organization of the workplace and the use of show elements: music, costume, etc. remain at the discretion of the bartender.
Flaming came to Russia relatively recently. In many ways, this was facilitated by the Barmen’s Association of Russia, headed by its president, Sergei Tsyro. The association has existed for more than 11 years, but flairing was developed only 6 years ago. It should be noted that, despite such a short period, Russia today occupies one of the first places in the world in the field of flairing. An example is the IBA competition held in Seville (Spain) in November 2003, where the Moscow bartender Alexander Rodoman won 1st place in the flairing category, beating the Americans, the British and Italians, who have been practicing flaring for a long time and are traditionally strong in this form. competitions.
In recent years, more and more professional bartenders who know the art of flairing have appeared in large Russian cities. To the delight of visitors to bars and clubs, they skillfully prepare the most complex cocktails, each time striking the audience with their virtuosity of performance and new flavors.
