Symptoms of thrombosis after vaccination for COVID-19
After COVID-19 vaccines (not only AstraZeneki, but also Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderny), very rarely, thrombosis occurs, usually in unusual places. This mainly affects the venous sinuses in the brain and the visceral veins.
Symptoms that may indicate a developing thrombosis after vaccination for COVID-19 include:
- dyspnoea
- chest pain
- swelling of the leg
- persistent abdominal pain
- neurological symptoms including severe and persistent headaches or blurred vision
- small spots of blood under the skin other than where the injection is given
These symptoms require prompt medical attention. In the case of thrombosis, time is of the essence.
Anaphylactic shock after the vaccine
Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction that can occur following vaccination against COVID-19. The American CDC indicates that most allergic reactions occur within 15-30 minutes of administration of the preparation.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, swelling and wheezing. A reaction is considered serious if epinephrine is required or the patient is transported to the hospital. Anaphylactic shock is usually detected at the point of vaccination – therefore patients are asked to stay in the clinic after administration of the preparation.
- COVID-19 has taken over Europe. Lockdown in two countries, restrictions in almost all [MAP]
If a severe allergic reaction occurs after the first Pfizer or Moderna vaccine is given, the CDC recommends that the patient not be given a second dose of the mRNA vaccine.
Reddening of the skin after vaccination. When should it alarm?
Redness and soreness at the injection site following COVID-19 vaccination is relatively normal. According to the CDC, however, the problem arises when these symptoms persist for more than 24 hours or their intensity increases. Then it is recommended to contact a specialist.
The side effects of being vaccinated against COVID-19 last too long

COVID-19 symptoms after vaccination
A separate group of symptoms are those that indicate COVID-19 infection. Vaccines do not work immediately after administration, which means that the patient may still get the coronavirus. He may also have been infected before the vaccine was given. The list of possible symptoms of COVID-19 is long, but the most characteristic are elevated body temperature, loss of smell and taste, cough, and shortness of breath.
