Fish dishes in the microwave: how to cook? Video
Microwaves can be found in many kitchens. Some housewives use them quite often, some from time to time, but mainly to defrost or reheat ready-made dishes. Knowing some secrets, you can quickly and easily cook delicious dishes in the microwave, for example, from fish.
Features of cooking in the microwave
Microwave recipes must be carefully adapted to the amount of food used. If you increase or decrease it, you should change the cooking time in direct proportion. It also depends very much on the temperature of the food you put in the microwave. If they are fresh from the refrigerator, the cooking time should be increased.
How to cook fish in the microwave
If you cook frozen fish, you can defrost it in the same oven, but this is a separate procedure for which additional time is allotted. It is given by the weight of the fish. At the same time, you should control the process so that the carcass does not heat up and thaws evenly, turning it over from time to time. If you are defrosting a small fish or fish fillet briquette, remove the pieces immediately as it thaws.
When the time set for defrosting is over, do not take the fish out of the oven right away, it needs to stand for a while to complete the process.
When baking, it is important to take into account that the thinner the layer, the faster it will bake. If you cook fish with a whole carcass, not of the same thickness, part of the carcass at the tail should be covered with foil in the first half of the cooking process. When you cook several fillet slices so that the fish layer is uniform in thickness, the narrow and thin parts at the tail or belly can be overlapped.
To preserve the integrity of the carcass when you bake it, make several neat cuts with a sharp knife in the thickest part of the carcass so that it warms up evenly from the outside and from the inside.
Only unsalted fish is cooked in the microwave to keep it juicy. It should be salted only after the dish is ready and you take it out of the oven.
Due to the peculiarities of cooking in the microwave oven, it is better to bake the fish by cutting it into pieces. At the same time, keep in mind that large pieces must be placed along the edges of the dish or wire rack, where the largest number of rays fall. If you decide to stew fish, place the pieces in a microwave-safe dish. It should have a tight-fitting lid with an opening for steam to escape. In such dishes, the fish will cook faster, especially if you add a little water or sauce to it.
