The child goes to school for the first time, but this joyful event can cause a lot of emotions both for him and for his parents. The teacher’s advice will tell you how to set your child up for school, help him cope with a new life situation.
If you are feeling anxious about September 1, it is better to go to school in advance. Take the child through the floors and classrooms, introduce them to the teacher. If you went to school without a child, tell him: “I met your teacher. She is very nice, kind, and I liked her very much.”
Most often, children are tormented by the unknown: how will it go? I can recommend this method: play at home on the first of September: sit down with the child toys and play the role of the first teacher. Ask the questions that teachers usually ask on this day, such as “How did you spend your summer?” and let the toys and the child answer. The child will imagine how everything will really be, and calm down.
The teacher must be told what individual characteristics the child has. There is no need to be afraid that this will affect the child, on the contrary, if the teacher knows that the child has a chronic disease or he takes some medications that can affect his behavior, then he will treat him with great attention. Do not hesitate to tell the teacher the truth, because he is your friend and like-minded person.
To make it easier for the child to adapt to school, you should start setting it up for a new mode in the summer. The regime is generally very important, especially when it comes to bedtime. When school starts, the child must go to bed no later than 9 pm. This is a law that does not provide for exceptions. Even in August, you can start putting the child to bed early — it is not to wake up early, but to put it on time.
It is not necessary to study counting and writing with children in the summer — teachers then have to retrain them! But reading is a skill that no one ever objects to. The better a child reads, the more he likes to read or listen to others read to him, the easier it will be for him to learn. So you do not need to save on reading either in the summer or at other times of the year.
Remember that the child must be able to:
– tie your shoelaces;
– determine where is left and where is right;
– that’s right.;
– saying “Hello”, “Thank you”, “Please” – this should become an automatic habit.
How to convince a child that school is interesting? We need to find arguments that seem important to him. For example, a very serious incentive to attend school is friendship. And if you say: “You will have a lot of real friends at school. They will come to the rescue, you can share your secrets with them! ” – this will sound tempting for any child.
And most importantly: do not intimidate the child with the school and do not worry yourself, your calmness will give the child confidence that everything will be fine!
