Bluefin tuna is famous not only for its meat, but for the great expectation that surrounds it during the first days of the year.
It is the most relevant gastronomic auction of the year, not in vain the figures that are reached are chilling, even having dropped considerably this year.
A total of $ 37.500 (one € 31.500) was the figure that reached the auction this past January 5.
The TRaditional Tokyo Wholesale Market (Tsukiji Market) once again captured all the attention of the local and international media when it opened its auction session.
The specimen weighing more than 180 kilos was captured in the northern prefecture of Aomori. And again the acquisition was carried out by businessman Kiyoshi Kimura, which has managed to lower the price of the purchase of the copy in two years from € 1.300.000 in 2013, going through € 50.000 last year and leaving it at 31.000 this year.
Kiyoshi Kimura owns Kiyomura Co., a chain of restaurants with the banner Sushi-Zanmai, which serves the best pieces of bluefin tuna (o-toro) of this and other specimens, is making its investment profitable from the first moment, giving its guests exquisite cuts of sashimi of the acquired specimen.
The large decrease in the price of the copy is mainly due to two factors, one of them the refusal of the commercial competitors of Kiyomura Co. to bid up in the auction and the economic recession that has been dragging the Japanese country for more than a decade.
Not in vain the price of each kilo of Tuna which will be served in the rooms of the Sushi chain, will not exceed € 70 and thus will not be able to cover even half of the investment.
But for years this Entrepreneur has been looking more for the advertising action of the chain that he runs and attracting covers from international and national media in order to achieve the unprecedented media effect, much cheaper than a traditional media advertising campaign, which would raise the cost from this to 10 times more than what was paid for the “tuna”.
Too far is ours still CAMPANUBut it is well worth waiting for the beginning of the fishing season to witness our auction.
